I was just reading that, very sad, i had the good fortune to meet him once many years ago and he was a thoroughly charming, down to earth chap. So young too. What a terrible shame.

That's great that you got to meet him - I always thought that he came across as a really nice man. So sad for him to pass away at such a young age.....

Actually i used to serve teas at our local golf club when i was a student and he came for a charity match. I didn't even know who he was until my friend told me afterwards...! But he was very nice.

Very sad day for the golfing world. He had an ace sense of humour if i remember correctly!

Bill Gallo, NY Daily News sports cartoonist.
I don't know how well known Bill Gallo was outside the New York area, but he was an institution here. He did sports cartoons for the Daily News since forever. He's one of the very last newspaper cartoonists of the era that would include people like Bill Mauldin.

Yvette Vickers, an actress best known as the femme fatale in two late 1950s cult horror films “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” and “Attack of the Giant Leeches,” was found dead April 27 at her home in Los Angeles. She was 82.

The body’s mummified state suggests that she could have been dead for close to a year, police said.
