RIP Ernest Borgnine. I list of great roles and characters too long to list here. 95 years young - a pretty good run, but will be missed.

I know this one is a little late, but thought it worth posting.

Speaking of Heaven's Front Porch, those tail end scenes in the Andy Griffith show came about because after one show's shooting, they were a little under time, so they decided to just sit on the porch and swap old yarns. Don Knotts was also from the south, so between the two of them they just started spinning yarns. Result, TV magic!

What a searing performance he gave in "Marty," the kind of film they just don't make any more.

"Hey, Marty. What d' ya feel like doing tonight?"

"I don't know, Angie...What d' you feel like doing tonight?..."

I saw Borgnine at a downtown L.A. theater which was celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Wild Bunch. He was very sprightly, animated, spoke of his various roles over the years. Great guy.

Did anyone ask him why he pronounced Amish "Aymish" (in the 1955 picture VIOLENT SATURDAY)? That's the first thing I'd have asked.

Michael Abney-Hastings the 14th Earl of Loudoun died at 69. If history had taken another turn, he could have been king of England but lived out his life in country Australia.

"I reckon I might send Lizzie (Queen Elizabeth II) a bill for back rent. The old girl's family have been living in my bloody castle for the last 500 years," he said.

Celebrity deaths always seem to come in 3's....This last bunch was Andy Griffith, Ernest Borgnine and now Celeste Holm. Wonder who will be next of the golden era actors? :(
