Yes, a friend of mine called me at work this past Saturday to tell me the sad news. We both grew up watching Bob host Creature Features. I was fortunate to meet him a few times and he was very gracious and soft spoken. He had a great dry sense of humor. So long Bob and thanks for the memories.

SEATTLE (Map, News) - A U.S. Army officer who was the assault force commander of a World War II mission to liberate Allied prisoners that was portrayed in the 2005 movie "The Great Raid" has died. Robert Prince was 89.

Robert Prince was awarded the U.S. Army's highest award, the Distinguished Service Cross, for his role in the rescue of 571 Bataan prisoners of war from the Cabanatuan Prison Camp in the Philippines on Jan. 31. 1945.

Bill Stone, Royal Navy WW1 and WW2 veteran

Mr. Bill Stone, the only surviving Royal Navy veteran of both WW1 and WW2 has died aged 108. He was one of the three WW1 veterans to attend the last Rememberance Day service in London in November.

Mr. Stone served aboared HMS Hood between the wars and was 'Ships Barber' during her famous 'world cruise'. He was serving as Chief Stoker aboard HMS Salamander at Dunkerque and made five evacuations, rescuing many soldiers from the beaches.

A few years back when TOUCH of EVIL was re-released, Charleton Heston was asked if he would change his performance of a Mexican sheriff. He answered enthusiastically that he wouldve gone with an accent witha hint of Castillian, like Ricardo Montalban.

Montalban was pure class. Hollywood Golden Age class.

Corinthian Leather...I love that phrase. Much like the nonsense indicated in Mad Men, its a fabricated marketing term. Corinth isnt exactly well known as a leather exporter.
But Montalban knew how to turn a phrase.

Its been anecdoted that Montalban was truly worried that Fantasy island had ruined his delivery, and that he would be laughed off the screen for his reprise role in ST:Wrath of Khan. He dug deep to master those lines. Shatner supposedly gauged all his own lines after seeing footage of Montalban's scenes.
How many other actors couldve delivered convincing dialogue like : :He tasks me, and I shall have him!:

Remember, always blame New jersey!

Didnt Carson once remark on Ricardo's chest in Wrath of Khan? Montalban just sort of credited doing lots of push-ups. He looked great for a guy in his `60s. I think a lot of people thought it might be a prosthetic rubber chest.

But i never did understand the wig...
