This one hurts as well. I wasn't "born" into reggae but I had a half cousin who worked for Island Records. He introduced me to Marley, Black Uhuru etc... I later became a big fan of old school reggae. Toots was often described as the "Otis Redding" of reggae, I'm not sure that description was apt but his voice did have the rasp of Otis and Wilson Pickett. "Funky Kingston" live on!Reggae legend Fredrick "Toots" Hibbert, whose Maytals song "Do the Reggay" is thought to have named the genre of music, has died, aged 77.
