It's a 46 because that's the size JC is. He makes test-patterns to fit him,self for photos. It's more than just the way the sleeves gather at the top of the forearms. I may be wrong but the sleeve-heads, where they meet the body, look mis-matched:

There's just a bit more pulling/creasing on the leather going on on the right side of the jacket and that's just the way the leather is I guess. The two large creases ought to account for seemingly uneven sleeve holes, as the left side of the jacket is perfectly flat. I'm sure it would all even out after a few wears.

This jacket was made and is being sold as a test sample, in a style that we investigated, but decided not to put into production. As such, this is probably to remain a "one-off" jacket which you will not see on anyone else.

I wouldn't be happy with that fit myself and from what I've seen of JC's jackets they fit him much.....better. Kinda reminds me of when Jerry had to wear the puffy shirt on Seinfeld.
It's an otherwise cool jacket but the bulging sleeves kill it for me.

I'm not sure, the curve on the right shoulder seam seems far pronounced than the left one, which I don't think the wrinkling would account for alone. Horses for courses, I guess...

It just means it hasn't entered production. Carlos' new Aero is just as "one-off" as this jacket at this point in time. I'm 100% sure both DD and GW would remake this, if someone requested it.

He makes a J-100 copy, yeah. The one with gigantic sleeves is more of an early Brooks repro, which is actually an improvement over the Buco, when it comes to functionality.

This jacket is based on the pattern that I created from an original Buco, rather than a made-up pattern. David changed the back and the front's lower angle. The larger sleeve tops are relative to the larger size of the jacket. The Racer I made in horsehide, in the photo above, was actually a rather snug and almost uncomfortable size on me, oddly enough from that exact same pattern, based on the size 42 Buco original. I should have made that a little larger, but it, too, is a test sample jacket.

The Howell jacket was a test model, but one that I think looked good while I had it on. Jackets always look better when worn in, and it was made with heavy, sturdy goatskin, so it looked a bit odd in a brand new state. I didn't want to break it in before photographing, as jackets generally sell better when in a new condition, but look better after being worn. I think this jacket would have looked much better had it been worn for at least for a couple hours.

Mr. TREEMAN, are you the same fellow who earlier in the day sent several vulgar notes via eBay messages to Mr. Howell's eBay account? Both you and that person are from CT. The offensive and vulgar nature of your notes equates well with the TREEMAN posts on this forum.

David Howell had no contact with you before those messages. If this was you, why would you send vulgar messages to his account? It's perfectly fine to not like a jacket, or not like a maker, but to go through the effort to send messages like that could be considered tacky, and in poor judgement, to say the least.

I believe David Howell to be a good honest man. And thank you Buzz for clearing up the confusion about the jacket. I did send Mr Howell a note via ebay but vulgar it was not. If you read the conversation we had you will surely see who the vulgar one was, and I was taken aback by his choice of language and innuendo.

I quite like the design of this jacket, and had it been slightly longer, and possibly a bit bigger in the chest, I'd have been tempted to snap it up when it was up on JC's site.
