Jack, We are talking this one.....Have you ever seen a jobbers tag with the cm designation? Not that it matters but I'm wondering if the tag is silver (maybe metalflake) instead of plain white.

My apologies for not following closer.Just to confirm it's actually this hat we are referring to.
I am leaning towards an alternate theory that, for reasons unknown, the American factory was unable to fill that store's (and maybe others) order so they had the Canadian factory make the hats. If that is a Canadian tag, of course.
Just a theory, though.
I wondered about that too. For some reason it reminded me of the glued on tabs used to hold liners in place after re-blocking. I don’t know why the owner would need to have a size tag in his own hat; presumably he already knows the size, but it just has that look to me. Got to love a mystery.

Yes.....I am TRYING to be patient.....It looks like it will be in hand Monday. At least that is what USPS says..now anyway.......Or perhaps a re-seller/thrift store situation where the original tag was missing? Canadian seems like the most obvious solution but, as you say, when it is in-hand it may make things a lot clearer. Waiting patiently....................

Maybe Canada was different, but listing both size designations was more recent than that here.Any info on when these Canadian tags date from? Looks very Biltmore (or Akubra even) but from a Stetson....70's (though it does have the nicer earlier liner)???

There is usually something, somewhere inside if you look hard enough ... Maybe a 2 chalked inside the band or under the liner. It helped to know what you were working on while one was in production.I'm hoping for an interior tag that sheds a little more light.
I found this today. It's from a Canadian shop, it I'm understanding correctly this is 1940-50s?

I only thought of that later :\ the shop was closing it's not my size anyway but if it's worth something, I could sell it on the bay so that I can actually get a hat in my size. That size tag looks to be foil. It could be a Canadian made Stetson where the regular dating guides don’t apply. Can you see any indication of where it was made? Can you take a peak under the Sweatband?
Hello everyone. Along similar lines, I have been looking at this one, I know made in Norway, but I was hoping someone could help me confirm it is 1940's somehow.
