This duffle bag was my grandfather's. He was born in 1920 and died in 1975 and the bag has most of his personal effects from his life in it. My mother thinks it's WWII era but I can't be sure. I think it's leather, but I'm not sure. On the front side (with the broken handle), there's a little mirror and under that a little plate which says "Name" and then "Address" underneath it.

Anyone wanna venture a guess as to how old the bag is, what decade it comes from?

May I ask what makes you think it's from the late 60s/70s? I always figured it for being 40s/50s because of the name and address plate and the yellowish discoloration of the glass there. Also, do you think it is Suede then?

It's pleather or plastic leather or faux leather, which ever you prefer. Look how the seams are literally melted together on the area where the handles attach. Leather would have a distinct edge to that piece and not “embossed” together like this appears. Not to mention stitched together. It appears that the look of a stitch mark is simply “melted” in to look like stitching.

The materials, and the type of zipper help date it. It looks pretty similar in construction to some old bowling bags I've picked up at yard sales.
