Date this Vest, please!

Hey they FLers,

I found this very busy vest the other day at the local second hand store and my first guess was 60s or 70s disco era...

But the vintage Towncraft tag looks 40s or 50s to me.

It's made of nice quality rayon as well. I know that there were plenty of loud ties from the 40s. Were men's vests equally crazy or is this from a later, more psychedelic era?

Wow! I'm not sure of it's age but it sure looks like it is made from said loud ties. Very interesting.

The buttons look newer.

The label looks hand-sewn in.

My thought is that it was made later, with all those ties. Maybe even over an existing vest.

I just read that J.C Penneys ran a Towncraft label in the middle 60's or 70's

But at the same time i have seen at Towncraft de luxe suit labeled as 1950's

But for the style and the print, to me looks like a 70's item

As Mr. Jones said, it's a vest made of ties from the '40s- the "Towncraft"
label is from a tie- it says "cravat" on the label- it may be from one of the ties the vest is made from.

It could be '70s but is probably newer.
