I stayed most of the night to catch the uncut version on Das Boot on cable last night.....294 minutes!!! What a marathon...no bathroom breaks, either. In my book it's definitely the best WWII film ever made.

The story went a long way to portray the daily grind aboard a sub and the comraderie amongst valiant crewmen. No German service lost more members than that of the U-boats.
