Less than a week ago, I encountered a stetson that almost fit at a thrift store. The soft was beautiful, supple, and soft- and 12 bucks. Encouraged by a lifelong love of fedoras, I bought it, even though the brim was a little wider than I prefer (and with my style of dress, made me look a little too Dick Tracy for my own tastes). And posted here. It's hard to say which of these was my first mistake.

The funny part is the stetson is long gone (enjoy it wil tam!). Coincidentally, so is the hat I traded it for (sorry wil tam!)- my friend fell in love with it and it fit him better than it did me. So I sold it to him at a good price, and reinvested the money towards...way too many hats.

On the way-
Akubra Capricorn (I have my sights set on becoming a professional golfer. this would be my "work hat")- fawn

Cavanagh 7 1/4- blue onyx (dark dark grey), black ribbon, 1 7/8ths brim,~60s vintage, with tags (this will be the hat I plan to wear until it falls apart- as a diehard sinatra fan, this just sings to me)

Cavanagh 7 1/4- not a typo. This one is "oilve green", and not quite as new but I couldn't resist, partially because it was a great deal. A great deal because it came with....

Borsalino 7 1/8th- brown, black ribbon, 1 3/4 inch brim. may need some stretching, but I think this completes my collection.

So basically, I went from a great thrift store find to wondering exactly why I have so many hats in the mail and so little money in my bank account. To add to the sorrow (joy?), I accidentally shipped the last 3 to the address I'll be at in a month or so.

In summary, I blame you. Yes, every single one of you.

Of course, pictures to follow. You bastards.

These are pictures from the seller's posts- unfortunately, the guy who sold me the grey cavanagh deleted most of the pics after the sale.

Hah Hah!

Man... I don't feel sorry for you because hats are like potato chips & you can't just have one.... it was your prerogative to sell the hat I traded you for a profit. Stop bitching and good luck with your career as a pro golfer.

A thread called "damn you all" containing the line "you bastards". This is the kind of thing that happens after more than 5 pages of "On giving your opinions of photographs showing fellow Loungers wearing their new hats" kicks in...

(nice looking stingies you've got there! Honestly).

Looks good! I'm missing having a decent hat with the weather in new york these days. By the way, maybe you understand now why I said I "wasn't dressed for work" a little better.

What do you say we all buy into something we don't like that we can get on the cheap. Then we'll start a forum about it and make everyone want a bunch of them......

I've been edited. I meant to darn you all in the first place, good catch ;)

Anyways the cavanagh came in today. It's much darker than I expected, with a slight bluish tint. It fits great and I'll be getting pictures up tomorrow.

Can anyone provide any other info on the hat? The inner address tag says it cost 18 bucks new, and it's blue onyx. it also has the code "5C66". Mainly I was wondering about age, and if it's rabbit or beaver. I did a search, but the liners really don't seem to tell me much. It is a thicker satin (silk?) though, if that helps.

By the way, in the few hours I've owned it, it's already spent 10 or 20 minutes as a porkpie (and a center crease with pinch, but I think it was too similar to the teardrop it came with to stay). However, I'm REALLY like the look of a teardrop w/ no pinch, but I'm just too dependent on the pinch to get used to it

After seeing all the great suits and hats in the other threads (and a few beers), i decided to throw on a jacket and tie and get some pics of the cavanagh. I chose my vintage looking-est pinstripe db (a polo from 20 years ago maybe? from my dad). There are no pics below the waist because...there are no pants below the waist, only pajamas. Pics of the lining will help date it too, hopefully.

and what would a cavanagh be without the cavanagh edge?

I have this print on my wall, 30x30. I would paste it, but it's a rather large picture:

Look up the word ANYWAYS, see what you find.....

Don't mind me.......just something that drives me crazy.

My dialect is less Shakespearean and more modern vintage. Had the bard been as strict as you, our language would be much less rich for it. Look up how many words he invented, see what you find... Don't mind me, just something that drives me crazy.
