Less than a week ago, I encountered a stetson that almost fit at a thrift store. The soft was beautiful, supple, and soft- and 12 bucks. Encouraged by a lifelong love of fedoras, I bought it, even though the brim was a little wider than I prefer (and with my style of dress, made me look a little too Dick Tracy for my own tastes). And posted here. It's hard to say which of these was my first mistake.
The funny part is the stetson is long gone (enjoy it wil tam!). Coincidentally, so is the hat I traded it for (sorry wil tam!)- my friend fell in love with it and it fit him better than it did me. So I sold it to him at a good price, and reinvested the money towards...way too many hats.
On the way-
Akubra Capricorn (I have my sights set on becoming a professional golfer. this would be my "work hat")- fawn
Cavanagh 7 1/4- blue onyx (dark dark grey), black ribbon, 1 7/8ths brim,~60s vintage, with tags (this will be the hat I plan to wear until it falls apart- as a diehard sinatra fan, this just sings to me)
Cavanagh 7 1/4- not a typo. This one is "oilve green", and not quite as new but I couldn't resist, partially because it was a great deal. A great deal because it came with....
Borsalino 7 1/8th- brown, black ribbon, 1 3/4 inch brim. may need some stretching, but I think this completes my collection.
So basically, I went from a great thrift store find to wondering exactly why I have so many hats in the mail and so little money in my bank account. To add to the sorrow (joy?), I accidentally shipped the last 3 to the address I'll be at in a month or so.
In summary, I blame you. Yes, every single one of you.
Of course, pictures to follow. You bastards.
