Ok...I have a lovely pair of coppery colored DG's with back, peep toe styled.

My question is...it feels like the heel portion sort of moves backwards when I walk, as if either the whole length of the sole is not strong enough to support me, or something.


Do they all do this, or are mine odd. Or am I just too fat to wear delicate indoor shoes?


I would also love to see pictures of other peoples DG slippers. Please?

Usually that wiggly feeling is the sad sign of the shank coming undone from the heel. To be fixed, they would have to be take apart, is it worth it? Expensive.
I think you can still get a little wear out of them, just no mad dancing around.
I will take pics (after the pedicure that I desperately need), I have white ones, black ones and somewhere, very shredded pink brocade ones... Love DGs!

Miss Neec, usually that feeling is from the heel coming loose. A cobbler can fix it for you but it may not be cheap.

Yep, you can find them on the bay. I'm trying to decide if I wanna sell mine or not. They're really too big for me, tho I "can" wear them.
So, you might find them in the classifieds some day!
Hard to decide,they are just so pretty and the satin is flawless.

See...its not like the heel itself is wiggly....its like the whole sole part is flexing too much, causing the heel to tilt backwards a bit.


darn...I probably just need to buy more pairs...

Yah, some of the shoes I have that do this are brand new. Just a poor design I suppose!

Can't really say on mine, as I wear a 7.5 or 8, and these are definitely a 9. They look narrow, but my feet are not narrow by any means.

I'm kicking myself as I saw a wine coloured pair in my size - then forgot to bid on them and they went dead cheap! [huh]

hmmmmm, wiggly soles and heels?

this could be down to several things...

- the insole board could be too tin, not providing enoug support,
- the shank may not be properly ancored inside the shoe - or! they're may not be one, as some low heel hights do not always have one,
- or the heel may not be sufficiently pinned in place,

all of these can be easily rectified by a good cobbler! i'd do it if any of you ladies were in london!

Yesterday I was at one of my fav antique stores and a dealer had a pair of navy blue ones for $25. Is that too much. Would anyone want them if I pick them up. I plan on going back today. I can't be certain but I would say the size was around 8ish. I will measure when I go today. They were in really great shape. the only thing wrong with them was the insole was curling a little. They were a bright navy blue with a fold on the top of the foot like a collar.

There's a pair going on Ebay in the Shops that are wonderful. I already have them in pink so can't justify the outlay. Hopefully this link will work so you can see them. Need a bit of repair/tlc regards the heel, but I can guarantee from the pair I have, these are gorgeous on.

The description sounds like a pair I have (navy with the turn back collar). They run big pre 50s. I'd be up for a risk on this as they are so cheap, but only if they are definitely peep toe, and preferably a sling back. Mine are peep toe and sling back and are marked an 8.5 but would easily, easily fit a 9. Get the insole length and ball of foot width (bottom of sole). You will need a length of 10 1/4 insole and 3 1/8 to 3/14 width if it's a peep toe which I imagine it is if it's of the period.

Here are mine. Getting faded these days, but I wear them a lot. I'm a size 9-9.5 and I got them on ebay. I had another pair with rosettes at the toe, also red, but sold them on ebay awhile back.
