Other than the brand name, is there any difference in the look or the way they are made, materials wise??

This thin ribbon style has been around for a long time, I have an old stetson ad with a pic of an Open Road and it shows it with a wide ribbon, similar to a whippet.

My Resistol San Antonio had a shallower cattleman's crease with more space between the top peaks than did the Stetson OR. The crown height measured only slightly higher than my ORs; just over 1/4 inch. As it was a 7 X-long, I converted it to a fedora crease because the front and back brim areas both raised up when I put it on my "not x-long" head and looked really cartoonish. The felt on the one I have is very nice but not noticeably better than my Stetsons, except it is thinner and not as stiff.
