Those are fabulous! I made the mistake of wearing 3 inch heels to the Bonnie and Clyde event this past weekend, they are comfy, but not after 3 hours on concrete. I am going to look for those Clarks ASAP!

A while back I remember someone posting about Faryl Robin shoes. It was the first time I had ever heard of them. Well, even though I can't have every pair I like (which is pretty much all of them) I now check out www.zappos.com periodically to drool over their gorgeous shoes and try to chose one pair I like best.

Here's a lovely vintage looking bunch on sale right now for 10% off. The problem is they just have too many fabulous shoes and it's impossible to narrow down your choices. It is sheer torture that I can't afford to buy them all!

I'd never heard of Faryl Robin shoes before. This is a wonderfully terrible post (ooo, those blue and silver ones!) - I think I need a good paying job now.

My credit card is sitting right here by my computer just taunting me! This is why I don't go to the Remix site that often. Why, oh why, do these people have to make such gorgeous shoes and why do I have to be cursed with this shoe obession?
It's not fair! Someone needs to start a 12 step program. I'll be the first one at the meetinglol

Hi, my name is Theresa and I'm a shoeaholic.

I'm not ready to admit I have a problem!

I really NEED those shoes.

If anyone's looking for a fab, yet sensible, (a hard combo to find) pair of shoes to wear with an evening gown, I just came across these from Jeffrey Campbell:

I just bought these in a soft tan leather on sale for $20! I couldn't resist, especially because they reminded me so much of a vintage pair I have in white. I haven't really worn them around too but, but they seem comfortable and cute.

while on zappos I checked to see if the Faryl Robin Fergie style were on sale for any less than before, and stumbled upon a new style (Fenway). Whoa, dead ringer!

They also come in black, and I found some at Endless.com in red.

I like 'em a lot, but according the the review at zappos, they might be too "heavy" for wearing year round. Now I'm wondering, did they wear shoes like this year round back then, or is the 'heavy for fall, light for spring' just a modern idea?

Oh gee -- I've got to stop looking at this thread when I'm broke. Sigh.

But to answer the question, shoes like this were mostly sold during the fall and winter, but given that a lot of people didn't have more than three or four pairs of shoes at any one time -- even less during the war years -- you'd be likely to see them year round.

Me, I tend not to wear suede as much in the spring and summer as during the fall, simply because most of my suede shoes tend to be dark colors. But I could certainly see wearing these in red or green during the summer!

Excuse me now, I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket.

I lost my head a bit during my lunch break today and bought some gaudy, gaudy shoes for the Sat. night dinner on the Queen Mary.

The heel is too thin to be really vintage (and I hope I don't break my neck in them!) but the front and back of the shoe is vaguely 30's looking. I'm wearing a silver necklace with "diamonds" and "emeralds" so these should complement it nicely.

I wasn't sure where else to put this so thought I'd ask here. I've got a pair of 1940's heels which are just slightly too tight (typical of the era, they are very narrow). I can squeeze my feet into them but they're not comfortable and too tight to walk about in, so I was wondering if there are any techniques that you ladies know about on how to stretch shoes? I got this pair cheaply from Ebay as one of the straps need mending but they're really nice so I'd like to keep them if possible. Any tips on stretching would be much appreciated!

Back on topic, this is probably a bit late now for UK ladies but Clarks had a sale on before January and I got 2 lovely pairs of shoes. One is a pair of red ballerina flats which are incredibly comfy and feel like slippers on! I was going to pay full price for them a while back but decided to wait for the sale and so I got them half price. I've seen similar flat shoes in Sears catalogues. I also got a pair of ox blood t-bars which look very 20's/30's and are very comfortable. I'm such a fan of Clarks shoes.

spritz them with alcohol and put your foot in. it help the leather stretch. don't use so much that you could dry the leather out but just enough to moisten them.

Hurrah for friends who are late with Christmas gifts! I got an unexpected Amazon gift certificate and bought 2 pair of shoes, both were pretty steeply discounted.

Aerosoles Romeo in green. I've been looking at these shoes for months. The color perfectly matches one of my favorite 1940's dresses and I love the stud detail. I wish the toe wasn't so rounded though. They're quite comfortable.

Aerosoles Gingerbread T-Strap Pump in black suede. These aren't terribly vintagey but I love them! They're incredibly comfortable and the gold piping has a subtle sheen that's not too gaudy. Please pardon the chipped nail polish.

Immediately looking up the shoes on Amazon. I love that the heel height isn't too high. Love the green. Glad to read they are comfy.

Payless has some cute vintagey shoes right now. I just picked a pair of denim 40s inspired playshoes.
