Olive Bleu,

The warning was on the modcloth.com website in the ad for the shoe. I'm thinking since the shoe is not made with real leather then maybe the manmade material may be a possible carcinogenic that has not been fully confirmed by any studies.

These from Mod Cloth. I adore them & they fit like a glove.

And these on very good sale as imperfect, from American Duchess. The ones I received were more ivory than stark white like the photo, but I still have plans to dye them eventually. In the meantime, though, they worked nicely for a "Shades of White" art event.

Well, nuts. I found the Munro Ascot oxfords I liked for half price, but the color bronze is actually bronze *metallic*. (I found this out after I ordered them - no wonder they were half price.) :eusa_doh:

Since these are good-quality shoes and I need a low heel, I'm considering desperate measures. Is it possible to use shoe polish over the metallic finish and bring it down to a matte brown? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

If it were me, if I liked them very much other than the finish (what an odd shoe to make in metallic), the fit and price were perfect, and there was little chance of getting the ones I really wanted in the near future, I'd keep them and experiment with shoe polish.

These are by softspots.

These look amazing! For years I worked in retail, on my feet in bad shoes, for hours everyday. And would go home at night, barely able to walk. Then, I was shopping on my lunch break one day, and tried on a pair of aerosoles that were very similar to these..It changed my life, and I have never worn a pair of bad shoes since. I think I see what I need to buy this summer.. :)

I might be shot for this, but one of my girlfriends just shared this link with me, and I can't help but share it with you. A website of all vintage, in the box, deadstock shoes?? YES! http://avintagesole.com/women

I apologize in advance to your pocketbooks.

Thank you so much Babydoll! I am in shoe heaven. So many lovely shoes to choose from.

I just ordered these, and have never been quite so excited to receive an item! I will most likely be checking the post like a maniac for the next two weeks lol
