Custom Vanson Recommendations

Hey Loungers,
I just put in an order through Thurston for a custom Model B. I have a few questions for the Vanson experts.

1. I dont' ride so is the windflap really necessary?
2. Anyone have any experience with black bainbridge leather? Does it have a nice pullup effect?
3. What are some opinions on the competition weight hide?
4. Anyone done a different collar, like an Aero board racer style collar?
5. What else should I consider?

I would definitely keep the windflap,and try get all metal zip(Brass).I hate the plastic zip box and male insert.

1) I ride... but not w/ a leather jacket. That said, I would never ask that that windflap be deleted.

3) I like the comp weight hide. I have an older Vanson comp weight and a new B on order w/ their non-comp. Looking forward to comparing them.

5) I'd consider getting a little extra room so you could layer in cooler weather and enjoy the same jacket on warmer days. Extend your wearing season with a little forethought. A lighter weight leather might extend your season further yet.

No point in getting comp weight via Thurston - just order a custom directly from Vanson? Makes sense to order through Thurston if you want one of their leathers. I'd remove the windflap personally. Just my 5c.
