Custom Tailor recommendations - made to measure

I am in the processing of getting a job where I may have to transition back into suits...Having a non standard body (38 waist, 50L jacket), I am looking into custom made.

I have been getting emails from some of the "Hong Kong" travelling tailors (Ravistailors and Noblehouse) and some I have leraned about on the forum like Magonli...I know their are others like ...but have no experience with their quality or value.

Anyone out their have any recommendations they would like to share?

I've had good experiences with Prince Henry, a Bangkok traveling tailor who tours the US, Canada, and the UK, and with Aspetto, based in Fredericksburg VA. A Google search will give you their web addresses.

It's best to use somebody local if at all possible so that the necessary measurements can be taken by a person knowledgable about the chosen maker's process. Also the inevitable alterations can be done in a timely manner when you have easy access to the tailor; none of that shipping back and forth nonsense.

I second the recommendation for a local tailor. I have one with whom I'm quite satisfied. Prices will be higher than those Hong Kong outfits, but the level of quality and service is even higher. As usual, you get what you pay for.

I've had a number of suits made by Hemrajani Bros. (a/k/a MyTailor.com). If Joe Hemrajani is the one taking your measurements, which is done in person, you likely won't need alterations on the back end. Or at least that's been my experience with him. Avoid any tailors who have you fill in measurements taken at home via online order forms; the results I see posted online from such endeavors are terrible . . .
