I'll be curious to see how it turns out. I hope you end up with a good jacket that you're satisfied with. Good luck.
Hi
Thank You. I will post pictures when I get it. from what I see on his Etsy Site the 1.6mm Horsehide looks heavy.
I checked out Five Star Leather and it looks like a Nice Custom Jacket Maker.

Hi
Thank You for your help on my post.
Like I said for $300.00 I don't expect much but I see in his pictures and reviews he does good work.
I see so many Videos on You Tube on People the make and sell leather jackets in Pakistan . Pakistan seems to be where they process or tan leather.
You're welcome, but don't think because you 'only' paid $300 you shouldn't expect or ask too much.... I dont know about pakistan but if I use my own country Indonesia as comparison since the price of leather jacket is comparable, in this part of asia $300 is still a lot, you can expect a lot you can ask for maximum effort in workmanship, local small family living outside our capital city can live with $200/month here, if i buy meal from food hawkers it is typically half dollar a plenty of yellow rice with several vegetable, tofu, and whole egg up to $1 with chicken drumstick or couple of satay, eating in restaurant is typically around $2 $3 per person, The most expensive dining here in my city, let say import beef or crab or other seafood in fancy restaurant wont touch $100 i bet still around $50 in my city and the portion is family portion.

Just as a picture about different scale of currency between dollar and euro to ours.

I hope it is 1.6mm and not 1.6oz.
1.6mm is thick, you will feel it being robust, depending on tanning type it can even feel too thick for a jacket.

Hi
In is write up on what I get for $300 he lists 1.6mm Horsehide.
I hoping it is. I have no reason to believe it will not be 1.6mm. He lists it in other jacket he makes. And people who bought jackets in 1.6mm gave 5 Stars and Positive Review.

An off the rack version of that jacket, which is sold to police, can be bought for around the same price.

Hi
So I cancelled the order for that custom jacket. The seller wanted me to confirm receive of jacket before I received it from him. From PayPal. So if I never got the jacket I have no case with him because I said I received it.
Sucks but I am better off. Safe.

Sounds well dodgy Peter. You're better off out of it and now free to look at some alternative suggestions.

As a general rule of thumb, I would always try to stay away from operations that show you pictures of other makers' work and claim to be able to reproduce them. Even if they're not out to con you, and ignoring the theft of someone else's intellectual property in the photos, it's an absolute crapshoot as to what you'll actually receive, and whether it will even remotely resemble the look / quality of the original. It's very tempting sometimes to take a jump on something that's half the price or 25% the price of one of the big names, but in the end unless you can handle it in person before buying, I'd steer clear.

If the one I bought used a few years ago is anything to go by, Taylors' quality is extremely good, an excellent jacket, especially for the money. They also seem to have good sale deals here and there.

Yes, that's a big red flag. It may simply have been they wanted the funds quicker, or perhaps were relying on the money coming in from you to buy the materials / pay for the jacket to be made (could be the seller is using someone locally to make the jacket and then selling it on online as his own business, for example), but exactly as you've realised if you did do that and it never arrived, you're bang open to being ripped off. At least if nothing else this gave you a chance to back out easily.

There's a jacket sold on Amazon, which uses pictures of a Bronco Manufacturing A-2. The jacket which they ship to you is nothing like the the pictures.
