Custom jacket advice

So life finally settled down and I'm moving forward with getting my first legit custom leather jacket. I've asked questions (and appreciate all the responses) and never moved forward but now have set aside the funds and am going to do it. Aero and some of the other higher end jackets are out due to price (max budget is about $650) so I'm looking to see if there are any others manufacturers I should be looking at.

Thus far I've spoken with Alan at Johnson Leathers and also Hillside USA. I can get a really good price on Schott from my local distributor, but would rather get something custom.

I don't ride anymore so this will just be for casual wear.

I'm leaning towards JL, but might give Hillside a try, unless there are strong opinions the other way as far as quality goes.

Want something in brown, JL has the Horween Vermont HH which is amazing.

So, if anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them.

For your budget, don't rule out something from Vanson. Their Octagon brown is really nice. Do you really need custom for some reason?

I guess the only reason I am going the 'custom' route is so I can choose the leather I really like. If I could find a ready made jacket in the right hide I would be all for it.

Thanks for the suggestion on Vanson, I thought they would be out of my price range.
