Custom Aero Sheene

I was so happy with the Schackleton Vest Aero made me, I asked them if they could make a jacket that fit me as perfectly as the Schackleton.

Holly asked Sam one of their pattern technician, the author of my modified Schackleton if it was possible and she said yes, no problem to work on a modified jacket pattern.

So I choose the Sheene.

First Sam wanted to see how an OTR jacket fit on me, so they sent a Café Racer since it’s the same pattern as the Sheene.

After seeing the photos and listening to my remarks on the fit, Sam made a mockup jacket in cotton to try on (in 1 day, I was very impressed).

Again, I sent photos and ask to add length to the front and if it was possible to have the armhole of the premier 1930 HB to eliminate the batwing effect. Sam told me no problem to add those tweaks and sent me a second mockup jacket. This is it! The perfect fit!

We finalized the detail of the jacket:

- Black Vincenza
- 3 zipped pocket (chest pocket on the left)
- Nickel hardware
- Highland Granite Pink Heavy Weight Tartan
- Rust thread for the stitching
- No kidney panel
- Sleeves in two pieces instead of three

Here is the final result.

I could be happier with this jacket, the last time I got a comfortable jacket like that was with my TNO Raiders.

It will be my go to jacket.

Again Aero amazed me with their top notch services, Sam is a magician, Greg did an outstanding job putting the jacket together and Holly is as sweet as ever. Never a company went this far in delivering the perfect jacket for me. This jacket is special to me because of the investment of everyone in it. I don’t see myself part from this jacket ever or not wearing it because the Sheene earn a lot of sentimental value in the making of it.

I’m sorry if I don’t express myself clearly, I’ll stop my babbling.

So a big big thank you to Holly and particularly to SAM because this is the first time I own a jacket and nothing bug me about it.

If I ever go to Scotland, I’m sure I’ll make a stop at Aero, so I can finally meet this amazing team and thank them in person for their hard work.

I also made the initial error as Superfluous but then read on down the post. That Sheene is 10/10 in every way.

Likewise, didn't know Aero provided this fitting service. Really like the contrasting stitching and lining choice. Very nice jacket!

Great-fitting jacket, congratulations on that one! Mock-up-jackets, specially adjusted pattern... I'm impressed by Aeros service as much as by the jacket itself.. I wonder whether they would send me a mock-up of a Stockman with new pattern high armholes... because I'm loving that coat but the armholes of my Teamster discouraged me from buying another Aero thus far.

Will do, but I won't be able to wear the jacket much since the weather is getting hotter everyday... Sigh...

Gentlemen, thank you for your compliments, Aero deserves them!

The modified pattern was a necessity since the Sheene is for men, Sam is their specialist in women pattern and I can tell you she knows her craft (my mother's words not mine, so you know that it means business when moms talk :D )

Freaking wow!!! That's absolutely perfect but yeah, I had no idea Aero's doing such fitting service. I know exactly what you mean about the jacket having a sentimental value to you - after all this hard work everyone had invested into it, I'd love it to death as well. :D The second cotton jacket is a pretty cool piece in itself! I'd happily wear that but man, I reckon they ought to be getting a lot more requests for these after this thread.

Also, the jacket has all the details I am crazy about. Particularly the back yoke AND the shoulder gussets.

This thread made me really happy. Again, jacket is tops and congrats! :D

I don't think it would be necessary to go to this length to fit most of you gentlemen, I mean most of the jackets not to say all jackets I saw on the lounge fit you quite well without altering the pattern.

So unless you have a peculiar body shape, I don't think it will be essential to go with a mockup jacket.
Like I say previously the altering made was to fit the body shape of a woman.

The last thing I want is to put Aero in an awkward position with this.

@monitor That second jacket became my go to summer jacket.

@nick123 ahahahahah! Thanks.

Firstly, congratulations on having yourself an absolutely stunning jacket!
I think you may have opened a can of worms with this one though......

If Aero have the capacity to provide a 'fit' service which includes mock up jackets no less, I think they may be inundated with these requests from here on.
This would now place them sqarely at odds with the key points of difference of some of their own stockists.
How does that work?

I do love the rust coloured stitching, I think it's a really nice choice. Is the Yoke deeper by design?

That's why a couple of us attempted to tamp down the sudden excitement about 'mock fit jackets for everyone'...unless wait times are of little concern. Seems either that or hiring staff to sew every customer several mockups. That would mean a price increase.

What a beautiful jacket, with an impressive back story. It looks amazing....you have an excellent stable of jackets Speedy. I would love to see a photo of them all side by side.
With all of the work put into your latest edition it makes me wonder how I ever bought jackets off the rack at the mall.....
Definitely a home run!
