Then their prices would probably have to be raised again... I wouldn't wear it that much during the summer, anyway. As long as I have it back when jacket weather rolls around I'm fine.

Quote from Aero's homepage:

"Extensive research and many years of manufacturing experience have gone into every aspect of the design and quality control of our jackets, to ensure that any garment bearing the "Aero Leather" label will provide decades of wear in the most hostile of environments and elements encountered in aviation, motorcycling, open top motoring and outdoor pursuits."

Well, judging from my experience with my other jacket the studs usually give a little and get easier to operate with use. I am quite positive that cuts by studs don't happen on a regular basis. Amanda seemed very surprised.

ButteMT61, my Aero A-2 Bronco is is BIG, really much to large for me. It was the first jacket that I bought from Mark a couple of years ago and simply overestimated the size that I needed. It fits my son who is just over 6'4" and weighs 230-240. Surprisingly, he had no interest in the A-2, although he walked away with my 46 long Aero Highwayman, which has been his favorite jacket. The A-2 Aero Bronco 48 long measurements are pit to pit 26" - front 24" - back 28" - shoulder 21.5" - sleeves - 26" plus 2.5" cuffs. So, one can see how it would take a tall & big man to wear this jacket. Thus far, I just haven't taken the time to try to sell it but don't think that I will ever grow into it!

Hi Rudie,

your jacket inspired me to get one myself. I about to order a 1930's slim fit half belt with a stuart button front, and radjacke pockets. In fqhh, the color I can't deside yet. My question is what's the armpit to armpit length on your jacket? I know it's a hybried but if it's a 38 at the armpits then I,m curious. I have hard time to desied wether to go for size 38 or 40.
I have a elc. m422a jacket size 40 wich is ok but not slim and it's to short, so it,s hart to say what happens in size 38. All suggestions welcome. Thank u Paul

I can't help you with this, Paul. I just sent it back to Aero for repairs. But the back panel of the jacket was a lot narrower. Your best bet is to send them your exact measurements, state how you want it to fit (loose, snug, tight) and send them a picture of you so they can see how you're built. They tend to err on the large side, so if you want a tight fit you really have to stress that point. If you have a significant drop between chest and waist I urge you to stress this point and suggest they make a hybrid size if needed.

Amanda informed me today that the jacket is ready and on its way back to me. Two weeks for repairs is quite quick and a pleasant surprise. :)

That is what I'd call a really good customer service - incredibly quick! Perfect Aero service!

I got my jacket back today. It looks much better with the darker buttons IMO.

Against my express request they used the same kind of studs again that led to the cut. Amanda said they would loosen off with use whereas the ones I asked for would lose their snap quicker... I just hope the new studs aren't as tight as the old ones. :/

I would imagine that that tear was an uncharacteristic occurrence. How did they repair it?
Concerning the snaps being too stiff, how about applying some oil?
Jacket looks lovely, one of the best I've seen in these parts. :)

They replaced the torn leather piece and both studs. They missed two of the old stitch holes at the edges, but still a good job.

Now that I have it back I can sell my FQHH custom halfbelt. I'll wait for a sunny day and get some pics.

Update

After two years of wear my jacket has developed quite some character. I believe there are not many picture of worn in Aero goatskin jackets here, so here you go:

Over the years I was caught in several heavy downpours. Being not as waterproof as the Chromexcel FQHH I treated the jacket about three times with Elephant Leather Preserver. It darkened a bit as a result. In sunlight it still looks very russet, but in indirect light it looks quite unrussetish and more like a darker brown.

It has moulded to my elbows and the grain has become more pronounced in areas of movement.

Great photos Rudie and an absolute corker of a jacket.

Those are the kinds of pics which should make people realise just how good goat can look after some hard wear.
