Maybe someone else posted this? I’ll look to add it over to the Mac thread. George McLaclan (note spelling) founded George McLachlan and Sons Inc hat company that supplied felts and MacLachlan Hats Inc.

Another Mac Lachlan with an Air-Vac sweatband. The absence of stitching at the front is interesting. It was intentional, and that portion of the sweatband is still connected to the hat, but it’s not done via the normal stitching method.

The region without the standard stitching also corresponds to a scalloped or corrugated imprint into the felt.

My curiosity is piqued.

And another Caxton with a Cushionaire sweatband:

On this hat the sweatband is sewed on in the normal fashion all the way around the hat. Other than the sweatband stitching and the lack of the scalloped/corrugated felt, this Cushionaire looks identical to the Mac Lachlan Air-Vac.

The size provided was the outside circumference. It turned out to be a size 7 1/8. Bummer.
