I've had Season One of this series on DVD for a couple of years now and never had the chance to watch it. Now I'm away on business trapped in a hotel room so I brought it with me. And I'm glad I did. What a GREAT show!
Great late 50's/ early 60's style. I already saw some definitely vintage Ricky jackets.
Any fans out there?

There is another thread on Crime Story somewhere...Anyway, I love Crime Story, although it tends to get my testosterone level up when I watch it! I've got both seasons on DVD, but have held out from watching the last couple of episodes (I'm waiting for the right time to do so:rolleyes: ). At any rate, a great show with some cool early-'60s threads.

One of my favorite TV shows back when I used to watch TV. The superb cast included an unknown David Caruso, Steven Lang (Avatar), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs' Buffalo Bill) and Andrew Dice Clay before he became a comic.

I managed to to tape all the episodes when the USA Channel ran the entire series some years ago.

Dennis Farina (Lt. Mike Torello) was actually a Chicago cop for twenty years before becoming an actor...........and getting his first big gig playing a Chicago cop in Crime Story.

Also John Santucci (Pauley Taglia) was a former jewel thief -- he was originally hired on as a technical advisor.

Great show....I've been a fan since syndication; I've got both seasons on DVD.
Joseph Wiseman ("Manny Weisbord" on the CS series; "Dr. No" to a lot of other folks) died last October at 91.

I remember watching it during its first run. Farina had an authenticity about him that was palpable. Thats why.

So I'm several episodes in and I realize that I really don't care for Torello's wife. She totally takes me out of the show. I'm not sure if it's bad casting or just a poorly written character but for me, she's a weak point in an otherwise superb series.

I agree (although she was good-looking), and you'll soon see that the producers felt the same way. Darlanne Fluegel was also too young to be Torello's wife; at the time, she was about 28, while Farina was about 42.

Sadly, some of the original music didn't make it to DVD because of licensing issues.

I'm specifically thinking of a scene involving Ray Charles' "What'd I say".

I love this series, never missed it when it was on.
