Crease & leave vs Crease & wear???

Not sure this has been discussed but haven't seen it since I've been frequenting this establishment.
I have a couple of hats that I got open crown that are easy to dry crease. Right now, I store them in their boxes open crown then crease them to wear & put them back in open crown. Is this more wear & tear on the felt than just creasing & leaving them in the crease all the time? I don't want to hasten any weak spots.
Thoughts?

Zetwal, if you had waited a bit to put that old thread link in there we might have seen another cool reply from Lefty saying "Click Here" and the answer would have come up! Oh well, maybe it's not too late. :)

I still don't know the "right" answer, though I believe Douglas is close to the mark in the "old" thread, but it was interesting.

Thanks, all,

Why do you ask?
I'd love to have a hat soft enough to do the thing Spencer Tracy's character [Culpepper] in It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World did, shape it every time he picked it up to put on. But I think it would prematurely damage soft thin felt, so I'd probably leave that one till I come across a hat I wouldn't mind dying on me early.

I store all my hats with the bash and creases intact... when I get a hat the way I want it, I want it to stay that way
