So far the hype seems earned. Foot insert is comfortable from the get go and being removable i can put arch support in. Stitching is very good. Noticeably better than my Lucchese which cost the same.

General slip on boot question. I have a low volume instep, flat foot. Therefor slip on boots tend to be loose. Does anyone have a hack for dealing with this? Adding a foot bed to raise my foot doesn’t really work because it is then too tight on the toes. Cutting the footbed by a 1/3 feels wonky. Tongue pads on the instep sort of work but tend to come off or move when i put the boots on.

Several years ago I scored some very thick Navy surplus socks. 100% pure wool. I can't wear them except with a couple of pairs of boots that are really too roomy for me. They really take up the slack.

The only other suggestion is some Moleskin tape. Normally used to prevent blisters from rubbing shoes or boots.

Found this thread by googling “Leon, Mexico, boots” as I am hoping to visit Leon this fall. This past summer I was In San Antonio and contacted Little’s Boots. Made a call to see if they stocked elephant and the cost. Got fitted the next day. The Alabama scripted “A” is quite subtle. My daughter is a recent grad. The second pair is by Jim Brainard out of Parker, Co., and is a sample of a pair I have being made. Found out a few days ago from my cobbler that Boot Barn put in a store in Manchester, Connecticut. Their first New England location. May check it out when I am in the area. Don’t expect to purchase any boots. Rusty
