Joao, there is a small stitch, sometimes applied to the inside and outside of the vamps of custom boots. It's not so common now but was once prevalent on custom made boots. Look closely at HJ's Bonds, there is a vertical stitch running from the top of the vamp to the sole edge.
If it is what I think it is, you do have a good eye.

Very cool.
BB, I'm really wondering if these used to belong to Boots Reitzel? He wore a size 13 as I recall. The person I asked you recently if was still around handled Reitzel's estate. Because of the vintage, size & being Paul Bonds I would almost bet they belonged to Reitzel.

They are just too big for me. Damn it.

Being sold in the right area to have been his, aren't they?

Reitzel lived in Tucson. SDL lives in TX. I inquired with him once about the boot inventory Reitzel would have had & all SDL would ever say was that everything was handled in accordance with Reitzel's wishes. So I don't really know what happened to his stuff.

Manly,

Any updates on your boot quest? Some of us (including myself) are living vicariously through your journey and eventual purchase.

Gang,

I'm contemplating a pair of Chelsea or Jodphur boots, however, as with many of you, I have narrow and low-volume feet. All of my cowboy boots are B width and I am concerned that medium width Chelsea will slop around my feet.

Do any of you have any experience here? I'm thinking of getting a pair of Lucchese Chelsea or strapped Jodphur since I might be able to have them made in a narrow width. Any other brand recommendations? I want something fairly traditional in style and sole material.

Not trying to hijack the thread here, but since we've been discussing narrow boots lately.......

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Morning folks, just checking in. I disappeared for a while, been busy. Long story short, one of the guys we let on our lease lost his mind. Just to get our cows off it and onto our feedlot we've had brand inspectors from two states and are on a first name basis with a couple of deputies. The court forced the sale of the jackwagon's herd and he spent 30 days as a guest of the county.

With our stock down for the winter, I swapped my Bonds and Buckaroo for my Schnee's pack boots and Kromer, been packing for an outfit another guy I know runs. Good way to make a few bucks before we start calving and it usually helps fill the freezer. He's got one guy that comes out every year for an elk, but doesn't want the meat. He got one this year, so we split it. He took the mount, we got the meat. Between that and an antelope we should be set for a while. Back home now, we'll start calving here pretty soon. In the mean time we've been fixing up equipment.

Hope everyone is doing well, I'll be a few days catching up on posts and things I think.

56, sound like you've been having a wild west adventure. Good to hear from you. How're the Bonds holding up.

Just a typical year. Ha! Bonds are doing pretty well, one is still a shade looser than the other but I've gotten used to it. After wearing these, I really wouldn't want to go back to the short top and heel boots I had before. The soles are awful in snow, but the height keeps the worst of it out of the boot and the heels are tall enough to still catch a stirrup. If I know ahead of time it's going to be wet I wear the pak boots, but the Bonds are fine for the occasional patch of snow.
