I was at the farmers market in Butte this morningProbably, but you did say this was your first pair of high end boots and I have some that I might have a come apart over if I were to scuff them up bad but I did buy them to wear, not to look at. Many of mine were custom made and I can't think of a pair that I couldn't find some sort of flaw on, be it a loose thread, tooling mark or something else. Enjoy your boots.

A fellow was selling old western boots that he turned into bird houses. Cut a 2 inch circle hole in the shaft.....covered the boot opening with old Montana license plates and hung rope from the pulls...voila a bird house. Ugly as hell but they had a charm to them.
Gang,
Do any of you have issues driving your vehicles while wearing boots (cowboy or otherwise)? I seem to not be able to "feel" the pedals very well whenever I wear anything other than sneakers. Obviously sneakers are more like driving shoes so will be better, but I notice that my braking is not very smooth with boots or any stiff soled shoe/boot.
Ha..no..no trouble.Gang,

I worry more about getting the back of my boots dirty and scuffed. Ha
Yep. Accelerator burn on the heel counter.
Ha..yeah it takes time to adapt the heel to toe Nascar pedal technique without skuffage...lolYep. Accelerator burn on the heel counter.

Go to a Tandy Leather store They always have dyed rabbit fur skins & remanents, sheeps wool, etc for sale for just a few bucks. I have some rabbit fur that is ~8x10" - 10x12". I use two-way tape to hold it down on the regular floor mats near the accelerator where my heels rest. If you don't tape it down it tends to creep around & ball up under foot. Just keep it clean of dirt & small rock & you won't get any accelerator burn on your cowboy heels. I replace mine about twice per yr.Yep. Accelerator burn on the heel counter.

Being tall & preferring cowboy heels the accelerator burn was always on the heels & not on the counters. The rabbit pelts solved the problem. If you don't have a Tandy Leather store near you I'm sure any crafts store such as Hobby Lobby has something similar.Great idea. I have a couple pair with a spur ledge and they don't present a problem. I'll be picking up some of this for the others.
Still asking questions about my new Tony Lana Kangaroo's.
Guess I shouldn't have listened to the Boot Barn people....Exotic is generally only used on acquatic reptile skins.

Picked up some Bickmore Exotic to clean and condition. It said it would not "darken" my boots. I applied a little to the heel to see if it was safe. Here's the result I see some darkening and am hesitant to do the whole boot as I don't want thw whole vance that dark. This pic taken about 7-10 minutes after buffing.per directions. Left heel was the one done. View attachment 121640
