Could these work for vintage?

Hello girls.

I would love to sew my wardrobe, but the really vintage patterns I have are Lutterloh which I have never used, plus a few vintage pattern drafting books.

However, I was thinking that some modern patterns I have could serve as vintage-style clothing, and I would really like your opinion.

I realise there may be a larger subject here, in terms of vintage or repro, or how vintage does one get. I want to reproduce clothes that look vintage but can be fully incorporated in my real-life wardrobe.

What do you think? It's for a sporty wardrobe of late 30s early 40s.

I'm loving the blouse with the flutter sleeves and I think it all has a vintage look to them, especially the pants, definitely very Katherine. Are these patterns available online?

Yes, they are burda. I have them from the magazine though. That style of pants they called marlenehose. As in Marlene Dietrich! So they must have had a vintage feel in mind.

It's NR. 104-102010-DL on their site. At least they don't have pleats-they make me look huge! I prefer darts.

The pair of pants you have will be perfect - I speak from experience. I made a pair in the exact same style from KwikSew 2990 (out of print) after Super Kawaii Mama's recommendation. So comfortable and easy to make, and the possibilities in terms of fabric and buttons are endless.

Although it's a 70s palazzo pant pattern, its a testimony to their Golden Era authenticity with the right finishing that one of the partners at my firm said to me "Where do you get 40s pants like that?" :)

Hi!
I really think these are a good starting place, and they definitely have a period vibe. For a more authentic look I'm going to give a few suggestions- hope you don't mind!

I have a 1950's pattern almost IDENTICAL to this one. I would just suggest shortening the sleeve length (on the sleeve body, not the cuff) by an inch or so. Also, work the darts on the inside. Exposed darts were a thing in the mid-late 40's for a short time, but imo, this style would look more authentic with the darts on the inside.

This one is super cute! If you wanted to go for a 30's look I'd suggest lengthening the flutter sleeve an inch or two. If you wanted it for 1940's I'd leave the sleeve length where it is, but add a larger fabric bow at center front where it buttons like this, but obviously it would hit lower because of the design. It would look great for mid 40's like that :)

This one looks too modern to my eye, personally.

This one is almost a dead on ringer for a 1930's sports shirt. I'd leave off the small buttons on the flap and lengthen the collar to a longer point at front for just a bit more of an accurate look.

These would pass decently well for vintage trousers- but for an even more authentic vintage look you could lower the rise of the pants (though I know a lot of ladies don't like the longer crotch length of vintage trousers.)

Just my personal thoughts, but even as is I think the patterns would work well! :)
