Having recently acquired a tumbled cordovan Sheene, I have to say that I am a fan of the color. I really think that it photographs nicer than it looks in person, though. It looks like an incredibly rich brown in photos, but in person it looks more reddish purple in direct sunlight, but in darker light it looks fantastic.

I hear you, I’m not a huge fan of the purple. I have some “black cherry” redwings which I gave a healthy coating of Bison brown dye to knock down that purple cast.

I ordered a brand new Longshoreman from Aero in cordovan and to be honest I am somewhat disappointed with that color. I wish now that I had gone with brown or black. I suppose a lot of it has to do with the particular jacket style but in this case, for me it just doesn't cut it. Just an FYI - because once you buy it you are stuck with it. ;-)
I’m sorry to hear that man. You and I must be polar opposites because I had the exact same reaction when I got my first Aero jacket, a brown CXL steer hide Highwayman. It was an absolutely beautiful jacket but I kept looking at pictures here of Cordovan jackets and wishing that I had gone for that instead.

Thank you for your support my friends - and your approvals - now I feel a little bit better about it. :) No, all kidding aside it is truly a fantastic jacket - it just needs more wear time and now with the advent of winter I will work it into the rotation - it occurs to me that part of the problem may be that its just too shiny and new.

To the OP - you can't go wrong with an Aero in any color or "finish." So, what did you decide? Or did we scare you away with too many opinions? :(

Hi. Me? I decided on regular cordovan.

I think the tumbled is a little much for me right now and like the idea of establish my own patina based on my personal wear pattern.
