Of course, I have this pet theory that the Elizabeth, NJ factory of US Wings is actually the former Cooper factory,
I don't think you are too far off thinking that.
When I bought my US Wings Vintage Cowhide jacket awhile back (before
the cheap closeout/seconds stuff) I needed the sleeves to be shortened
about 2 inches.
I figured the best people to do it would be the people who sell, and say
that they manufactured all their premium jackets on site. So, I called Wings
and asked if I could send the jacket to them, and have them shorten the
sleeves for me, even if there was a fee involved.
Well, Sarge himself told me they could not do any alterations, as they
didn't actually make the jackets on site, nor did they make any jackets
themselves at all. He said I had to send the jacket back to the people who made it
for them, and that person was Neil Cooper.
So, even though the website said Wings made their own jackets, other than
the Avirex (Now Cockpit) brand, its obvious they didn't, and Cooper made
them for Wings.
So, I will agree with what you are thinking, as my experience was just
that, my Wings labeled jacket was made by Cooper, and all they did was
put their own tag on it.
