Anyone know where I can get a pair of two-tone shoes like Jack Nicholson wears in the opening shot of "The Two Jakes".

I think those are just about the coolest shoes I've ever seen!

Hey Hem
They are not exactly Spectators. They are brown and white with the brown on the bottom and the white on the top from the toe to the top of the tongue.
When you watvh the film you cant miss them. They are the first shot of the film after the credits and they fill the entire screen for about a full minute.
I bet they were made for the film. Both Jakes wear them.

Which reminds me...

How is it, Magnoli, with all the quality footwear you offer, you don't corner the spatterdash market? No one makes the real thing anymore and eBay options are rarely wearable or the desired color/size.
One company tried, but seems to have gone under. Their spats were not high enough on the ankle, none of them were traditional colors for a gentleman's wardrobe and they used elastic under-straps... sigh.

I make my spats from Ultrasuede,(washable... very important) but traditional materials such as box cloth, felt and linen would be most welcome. I'd pay for a pair made to my shoe size in white, gray and tan with color matched under-straps, working buckles and the customer's choice of button color.
If you had a variety of traditional spats for sale, I can assure you the vintage folks, the reenactors and the swing dancers would find you.

I'll even contribute a pair of vintage felt spats free just to give you a starting point, if you'd like.

And I agree, the Jake shoes are worth offering to the public. For that matter, Elsa's blue ladies spectators ( The Last Crusade... Check the scene where she is lowered beneath the library in Venice) would drive my wife mad with desire.

Hey Indy M

I just spent some time on your site. VERY NICE!

I think I would be interested in a pair of Jake Gittes shoes if you think you could make them.

Thanks.

Yes, those do have the same basic pattern to them. They must have been common enough in Jake's world... imaging bending down and seeing the guy across from you having the identical pair of shoes. How embarrassing! ;)

Kind regards,

Thanks bro. Already have an account. I'm an actor in my spare time. Thanks for the tip though. I actually never thought of going right to the source.

After this thread was started I placed an order with Indy Magnoli.

I'll post pics when I get them.

Big Sleep, have I seen you in anything?

A lot of commercials. Did some General Hospital. A lot of short films that will never be seen outside the festivals.

Acting is a tough racket to break into.

In fact I worked more when I lived back east.

So I do graphic design/illustration to eat and acting for fun.

Thanks for askin.
