Cool Collar or Clown Collar?

Langlitz offers a special-wide collar and I want to put it on a straight zip front Columbia to make my version of a 50s policeman's motorcycle jacket. Do you guys think the collar looks cool or clownish? I like it, but I'm curious to know what others think. If you click on "Umbrella Front" jacket, you'll see the collar. Imagine that one a straight zip Columbia in horsehide and you have the jacket. Thanks.

Looks very good to me, but you have no idea as to whether or not I have good taste! I think so: my wife, not always....

Thanks for posting the picture and for the kind words about the jacket. I noticed a lot of these policeman jackets on eBay but other than LW, nobody makes a copy. This style of jacket has a certain authority about it, which is good if you're a policeman. Here's an example of an original in steerhide.

And an example in horsehide:

My jacket will have a straight front zip, a straight cut back (no extended kidney panel), no bi-swing, and no belt loops. There won't be any snaps (unnecessary with heavy horse). It won't have a police badge either but they offer it as a free option and I did think about it.

The collar in the photo looks similar to the one on my 1940s CHP jacket (from Lost Worlds). I think it is a great look.

Regards,

Noel

Noel, do you have a picture of your jacket? I've never seen a customer photo of it.

The collar looks to be on the high side; something a short-necked fellow might want to stay clear of. Other than that, it's a matter of personal preference.

if you are wearing it on a motorcycle A: you need the snaps on the collar B: if you wear a helmet, the collar will rub on the bottom of the helmet ...or keep you from proper use of the helmet ...

That jacket does have the western style cut on the shoulders, something that I dont care for personally. I am becoming a fan of the straight zip though...how would it look on a cascade?
