What rationing guidelines do you think were broken/ignored? The suit looks pretty standard.

There are stories of British tailors ignoring the guidelines in innovative ways. For example, apparently cuffs were to be eliminated, so they "measured" the customer's leg at 3 inches longer than it was: "Whoops, we've made a mistake, so we might as well put cuffs on, as the little bits of fabric would be useless for anything else" …

The government did pick up on that eventually, and making trousers longer than required became an act punishable by a large fine and prison sentence!

I saw that one too and was also surprised by the closing price. The seller made some odd observations in the description though; they implied that, even though the suit was dated '47, it was form the 30's, which I thought was pretty sketchy. No the less, it's still an awesome suit. I wonder if it went to a lounger?

Yeah, that suit with the classic mid 40s cut jacket. Must haev been made in the 20s, eh?

Pretty sure the FLounge led to the higher price. This suit was "outed" in Classifieds. For a size 39 suit, this is a pretty damn fine price.

Aw, don't get me started on other people and their interests! I keep bumping into other people's interests all the time when scouring the 'Bay...

The jacket sure looks nice but I'd never wear that color myself. I remember that just recently this topic received a lot of attention somewhere here on the Lounge. I can't even imagine myself wearing any garment with such a color, so that would be a really bad start anyway.
