No, they're Chilean. The business started out as a tailor shop. Then, early in its history, a tailor accidentally frayed a customer's jacket. Another tailor there --who happened to be Japanese-- took the jacket and rewove the damage beautifully. So impressive was his work that the shop's owner decided then and there to specialize in reweaving, rather than tailoring. More than 80 years later, it is a Chilean institution, used by generations of Santiago residents.

.

Do you think I might find a similar shop and price in Buenos Airies?

Very atypical. I like it.

Not often you see something with a name, a date and a locker number. lol It's almost got kind of a proto-hippie style to it.

I bet if you could find which high school SHS was, Roy would feature in the yearbook.

Were it not dated most would dismiss it as a hippy garment.
It goes to show how vibrant and fun people (especially young people) were during the era.
I am sure Roy Eckert was a real character in high school!

Clearing out the store room and raising needed funds. A few of the highlights.

Would have liked to keep it, but needed the funds.

Did any fellow loungers grab these two items?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350271526043&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT

The single-breasted got outta my league in the last 20 mins, whilst I thought I won the double breasted but someone literally sniped it at the last second...seeing the timer reach zero and then a split second later seeing the price jump from 60 to 102 quid...it was a crushing experience..sigh.

Heres hoping it went to a worthy buyer :p

If I may be so bold.... darn-tootin' the single breasted did! :D
Plus, I've got very interesting comparisons on cut I uncovered over the last week! I think this suit dates to approx. 1930/31 or is at least using the aesthetics of that year. Please refer David Manner's wardrobe in the last reel of DRACULA (1931). Pics to follow...
