Commonly available jeans - higher waist?

I favour Wrangler 13mwz's too for their high rise but sadly they are no longer available in the UK. I've found a couple of pairs in vintage clothing stores but rely on eBay for replacements. They have a good rise - suitable for the shorter of my leather jackets such as my Aero Speedway. I recently bought a pair of vintage Lee 101z's - made in Poland and they come a close second on rise height.

Why not buy from the US? You can't get them here any more. It is till much cheaper for me to get three pairs sent from the US now than it was to buy one pair from the local store five years ago.

Here are some not-so-commonly available jeans that have a higher rise.

• Iron Heart IH-1955-S and IH-1955-UHR.
• The Flat Head 3012 and possibly the 3005 (lower rise).
• Tender Type 130 (more tapered) or Type 132.
• Dawson Denim Wide Leg jeans.
• Some of the Mister Freedom styles.

The people behind all four of these brands or shops offer excellent customer service, and will offer advice on how they fit. Also bear in mind that a size 38 pair of Levis is probably somewhat larger than the Japanese brands.

You could give somewhere like Self Edge, Blue Owl Workshop, or Blue In Green a shout, and they might be able to sort you out.

For those looking for a higher rise 505 type of fit I'd recommend Norman Porter's NP02 cut. Probably an inch or two higher rise than current 505's. JUst this last week tried to buy a pair of cheaper jeans to get myself through a fast period while I slim down to decent stuff. Don't want to buy anything really good until I get down to the weight I ant to be, hopefully in six months' time or so. Prison Blues seem to be hard to find in the UK suddenly, alas, but I've ordered a pair of standard Wrangler Cowboy Cut from the US (nobody stocks tem in the UK). We'll see how tose turn out. All the information I can find has them as straight cut - if they are flared, they're going straight back.

If you have skinny legs the lower trouser leg can billow out somewhat owing to thin thighs not quite filling our the top part of the trouser leg.

A big of baggyness is fine, it's the bell-bottom/ style I loathe. Fortunately no sign of that in the CCs. The rise for me is perfect; I might rry a second pair in the relaxed version of the 13MWZ. Don't know why they don't seem to officially sell them in the UK.

Don't know if your jeans are in yet, if so disregard this. The 13MWZ won't flare at all, in fact I think they offer a "boot cut" with the dreaded flare straight out of th 70's. Yours will ruler straight with just enough room to go over the shaft of cowboy boots with enough left in length to achieve the desired "stack", or in your case the cuff where denim meets leather. Can't beat them for the money but odd you can't find them there.

Appreciated, thanks. They're here - I wear them as I type; I've had them about ten days nowand worn them for most of that! Fantastic. Frankly, if they had that little selvedge tick and were sold at several tiems the price, I doubt most f us would notice the difference. (It's an interesting thought for me; I love the look of cuffs on a pair of selvedge denims, but both these and Prison Blues are much better jeans than some of the selvedge I've seen in and around the GBP100 mark.)

I don't know exactly why they're not sold in the UK. True, there isn't the same level of 'cowboy culture' here (though there's a big country music subculture that I'd have thought would appreciate them), but I can't find them on Wrangler's UK site at all. Mybe the high rise scars off the mainstream here? I did wonder if they sell them as something else here? Also possible that the higher prices in the UK don't work for these: whereas, even with the added shipping, I have around GBP35 in my 13MWZ, the UK site (all things being equal - I ordered direct from Wrangler in the US) has not a single pair I can see below GBP60 or so. They do have the slimmed down version in their 'Icon' range - the 11MWZ, at around GBP90 - tough those look like they have dropped the rise too. Nothing other than medium and low rises on offer for men on their UK site. I'm guess fashion is part of it; whereas Lecis has their LVC range, Rangler in the UK seem intent to focus specifically on the fashion market. But hey, as long as they let me order these from the US, that's grand!

I've yet to try them over the top of my engineer boots; I think they'll be neater there than some of my other jeans in the past, but I think they should be fine.

Question: if they're cut to allow 'stacking', prsumably if I ordered an inside leg of 34, it would measure longer? ASking as I'm a 31/32R, normally order 36" inside leg to have plenty to cuff, though there were none of those available with these, so I went up to a 38 leg. Cracking, robust cuffs as a result, tough no chance I'll ever be able to put them *inside* a pair of engineers, much less a pair of zip-up Aviakits!

Yup. That describe me, which is why I buy the slim fit version of the cowboy cut jeans. Seems to solve the issue.

I've tried that too but doesn't seem to make much difference - someone asked me if I was wearing bell bottoms a few weeks ago.
