Whichever one like wife prefers at the time!
All joking aside, I want her to enjoy the scent more than I do.

My lovely lady bought me some Curves this weekend. She likes it and since I can't smell worth diddly, it seems like a winner!

Flieger,
In my limited experience, the bay rum scents simply do not last. I'm not happy about it, but that's the way it is for me.

I, too, purchased a bottle of Hawleywood's No.9 Bay Rum, and although I really enjoy the scent, it does not last very long. I also use Master Bay Rum, and it dies down very quickly as well. I think it's just the nature of the Bay Rum aftershaves- anyone else know of a Bay Rum that sticks around?

Another way to boost the staying power of some colognes is to put it into an atomizer. Spraying or spritzing it on rather than a splash on method makes many scents last longer, at least for me.

Spark (the amber colored one) from Liz Claiborne has always been my signature scent until I met the girl I've been dating and hope to marry...

However, my current arsenal of favorites includes Pi from Givenchy, Allure Sport from Chanel (the scent that makes my girl think of me) Very Sexy for him (which leaves her drooling and very territorial, though I can't figure out why...I hate the stuff!), Burberry London, Intuition from Estee Lauder, and Royal Secret for Him (my "bring 'em to their knees and begging for more/I own you" scent).

Would love to find some "vintage" scents for men that are of the "oriental" family. The "chypre" family is ok too, but nothing even remotely similar to Polo Green...I'm too blasted young and have no desire to smell like my grandfather! If anyone knows of any, drop me a line, please!

Depends on mood, weather and time of year:

Lili Bermuda: Navy
Trumpers: Silvester, eau du Portugal
Zegna: Intenso

There are others, but these are in the current rotation.

...Agree with some, but Royal Bay Rum seems to last all day. Their lime scent doesn't seem to.

For some reason I thought that I had posted to this thread earlier, but it must have been a related one instead. For me there are a number of possible colognes & aftershaves, but I'd say of all those that I own there are a few that stand out.

  • Dominica Bay Rum - classic scent for a Caribbean soul like mine. Sure the scent isn't that strong/lasting but it is not a cologne; there is a low percentage of essential oils. It is meant more as an aftershave, skin tonic, etc. For something stronger and more cologne-like, perhaps I'll try gathering some local bay leaves to infuse in a bottle (benefit of living in the subtropics).

  • Avon Spicy - while I am a fan of Old Spice, this scent has just a bit more depth. It is more an aftershave but its fragrance lasts most of the day. Unfortunately it has been discontinued so I'm rationing my bottle.

  • Armani Mania - this is the crisp, masculine scent that I'll wear for a night on the town. A little dab'll do ya...it is strong. It was a favorite of my ex-girlfriend and hopefully my next.

And last but not least, my everyday smelly sauce of choice - an unfortunate but necessary mixture of DEET bug repellent and sunscreen.lol*yucky* Sorry, but as a field biologist in south Florida it is very necessary. Thank goodness for showers!!

Dominica Bay Rum. (Double Distilled).

Got a bottle out of the Orvis Shop (USA). Dominica Imported Bay Rum (double distilled), Superior After shave and body lotion (from the C.A.Trading Co.).

Can't get it in the UK, so when the bottle is nearly finished I'll be asking one of my US pals to get me a few bottles more. But you do have to top it up during the day (just decant some into a little pocket bottle to carry with you ;) ).

Paddy, if yours came in a glass bottle you better hang on to it. Dominica Bay Rum has discontinued the old-style glass bottles with the nifty cork stopper. Instead, they have decided to go with a "new & improved" plastic bottle. *yucky* There is usually a large quantity to be found on eBay and a few other online retailers, but I could arrange to ship you some too. I kept about 3 or 4 glass bottles so I can refill from the cheap plastic varieties when I run out.
