Hello all,
Came across this collection of photo's the other week, and they're really quite interesting. I really like to see photo's of real people wearing clothes, rather than movie stars or catalogue illustrations. Apologies if they're a bit fuzzy, they are just amateur snaps after all. I didn't really know the best place to post them, so I thought I'd make a thread. I'd like any suggestions as to anywhere else I could post them.

Start off with some portraits.

There is a serious slant on that breast pocket there. I assume early 1920s? I'd say it's a pretty timeless look otherwise though, with the collar pin and tie etc.

Nice haircut.

Not so nice haircut, but some might like it. A bit 'teen America'.

Another nice haircut.

Sorry for this one being so pale, I assume it must have been displayed somewhere.

Fellow on the left sporting one of those great DB waistcoats from the 1900s.

Classic look, you ask me. Not a penny wrong with it. I assume late 1950s.

A bit blustery in a raincoat, but surprisingly absent of a hat. Probably blew away. Hal, this one is for you!

Two old gents. I like his gardening smock.

A look I try to maintain on the beach.

I think this look is smashing. Very nice flecked tweed jacket too.

Bit of an odd jacket for the fifties, but I don't think it could be from any later or earlier.

Casual open-collar look for the older gent.

Absolutely smashing trousers. I think the whole look is very nice indeed actually, if you're going for the casual side.

Another nice casual open-collar look. The writing on the back says 'Hikers resting in Hopkolt (?) Woods not far from our lodgings.'

Brill suit, great smug look. I like his striped shirt and tie.

Another open-collar look. This fellow is sporting my ideal trousers. Nice and wide. Also, take a glance at his shoes. I think I've seen similar on the lounge before. Like a striped Correspondent. There's another of the same fellow coming up.

I guess this could be from anywhere between 1900 and 1950 really. Good gardening gear either way.

Here those shoes are again. Very nice indeed.

Open-collar, blazer and white trousers and shoes. A nice look. I think the fellow is a youngster. I can't really tell what the guy on the left is either doing, or wearing.

A few nice suits on this snap. Clearly the guy on the left has just turned up from a round of golf or something, while the rest were hard at work at the office.

Three youngsters from the 1920s. Really illustrates those 'youth' looks you see in catalogues very well. Suits them nicely, I'd say.

Nice socks.

This is an interesting one. I'd say 1920s. But a rare open-collar for that era. I'd say they both look great though., and I love the trouser length on the guy on the right.

Awesome look, there. Got a bit of the Crays about him, but I like his style. I think I've seen you in such a look TT?

Nice casual, but 'proper', look from these two. I assume 1950s.

That's all folks! Hope they're of some interest or use. I think it's always interesting to see what people *actually* wore, whatever class or social group they were in.

I think i may have posted this before, but I'm not sure. My old Dad just after the war. It's a day out to Norwich to watch the football with his brother Johnie who's looking round at him. Plus of course looking as smart as they both do there's always the chance of pulling the girls. The photo was taken by a street photographer.

Glorious photos Eddie, very fond of the tweed jacket + bowtie look like yourself.
Where did you find them?
If you are looking for a larger thread to integrate your post, I would recommend the 'show us their suits' one.

Thanks Metatron. I'm going to try and replicate that look sometime I think!
They were a bundle of about 200 I picked up on Ebay cheap. These were the best out of them. If I get time I shall post them over at the Suits thread.
