Cold Rainy Night = New Akubra

I went out to a few stores tonight, and for some reason decided not to wear one of my hats. When coming out of the book store I noticed the temperture had dropped, and it was starting to rain, a few miles down the road when I stop to fill up my car. It had gotten very cold, windy, and was raining very hard. As I was standing there pumping gas with my head getting very wet, and cold. I begin to feel very stupid. I had two very nice hats, setting at home, but because I felt they didn't look quite right with my blue jeans, and justin cowboy boots I left them at home. To keep this from happening again, as soon as I dryed out some. I placed an order for a sandstone fawn Snowy River from AustrailianGear.com This is a style of hat that can be worn in a lot of situations in upstate SC. This will be my official rain hat, as my official sun hat is my Wrangler 20x Shantung Panama Texas Ranger Captain Hat by Master Hatters of Texas

I had a similar experience today. I was running errands and did not wear a hat either. But after several HUGE wind gusts I was happy that I wasn't chasing my fedora down!!!

The Snowy River is an excellent choice, D.W. What color did you get and how much did you fork over, including S & H? How long 'til you get it?

It was a "finalist" a few years back when I ended up selecting the Banjo Paterson instead, though that "Heritage Collection" felt cost about $30 more. I preferred the Snowy's 4-inch pinched telescope crown, but the rolled-on-the-sides 3 1/4-inch brim and ornamental sueded-insert hat band limited its versatility for me.

Of course, the Snowy River is an Akubra, the best production hats money can buy, and will last you practically forever no matter how many downpours it goes through. Do post some pics when you get it.

Quite appropriate for the thong, T-shirt and flip-flop set...but for a find upstanding Fedora Lounge member? I think not...

(I'm watching far too much Jeeves & Wooster and BBCA this week...)
And just where do I find this thong, T-shirt and flip-flop wearing set?
I think I'd be watching some of that there!:D

Sorry about the late reply to this one, my computer broke and I'm waiting for it to be fixed. I ordered the fawn color, $95.00 including shipping from Australian Gear. I ordered it on the 17th and they sent me an e-mail saying it was sent by airmail. Should receive it 10 to 14 days. I would love to have today as it is pouring rain.

Got It!

I just came by the jail ( my office is there), and they had just delivered my Snowy River. I ordered it on the 19th. That pretty good service coming all the way from Australia, and it's great timing. I'll get to wear it this weekend. :eusa_clap

Capitol Hill and Fremont mostly. He forgot the part about them wearing hugely oversized pants with crotches at the knees.
