Hello to all. I´m from Madrid (Spain) and I´ve been reading this forum for some time and I like it very much :eusa_clap

I want to buy a cockpit jacket ¿Why? I´ve been looking from some brands of jackets and cockpit its the brand that I liked much than others.

I like two models very much: b-15 (leather) or G-1 (FLIGHT JACKET CLASSIC NAVAL AVIATOR)

The B-15

G-1 (FLIGHT JACKET CLASSIC NAVAL AVIATOR)

I like more the B-15 (leather) but I´ve never seen it at the real life (only in internet) Does someone have it and have a photo with it? (to know how it fits)

The G-1 I had the oportunity to try it and I like it too, but I wanted something different like B-15

What do you think?

Any other options?

Also I´m thinking about the size, I think its a 42-44 (or M). I´m 170cm, about 79kg, 106cm of chest.

Thank you very much.

Hi...and welcome to the forum!

I'm not familiar with these specific jackets, but I am very familiar with original G-1s and original B-15s. I can almost guarantee that the B-15 will be a warmer jacket. If it is anything like a real B-15, it will have ample insulation and looser fit in the torso area. As much as I love G-1s, they are only windbreakers. They aren’t made to be comfortable in cold weather.

Cockpit leather B-15 looks better in promo shots than in real life. This picture is perhaps closer;

I don't like big mouton collars, not my thing [huh] B-15's straps for oxygen tube and wires don't make too much sense in a leather jacket.

I like the detachable nylon vest, though.

Thank you for all of your responses!!!

Didn´t know that G-1 are not warm jackets....

Any other pilot jackets warmer than G-1? (I´ve seen B-3 jackets, but there´r expensiver than g-1/b-15 and here at spain cockpit are much more expensive...) schott flt6 are expensiver too....

I like B-15, but after aerojoe told that it looks prettier on the promo pics....

I always tell people that the G-1 looks really cool and really feels that way too.

The G-1 has no insulation. It is just a goatskin shell with a rayon liner. And the mouton/dynel collar is nice, but it wasn't put there to make the jacket warmer. It was put there to reduce neck chafing.

Among the original leather flight jackets, the warm ones were all fleece. Jackets like the B-3, B-6, M-444, Irvin and other earlier, pre-WWII jackets were all quite warm, even if bulky. The warmest of all flight jackets were the N-series nylon jackets. In fact, from a comfort and practicality standpoint, the best flight jackets are either nylon or (nowadays) nomex.

Hope this helps.

Im starting to be mad looking for a good jacket.

I like g-1, also A2 and B3, I need a warm jacket, but B3 its VERY warm, maybe something intermediate?

Where I could look for good quality jackets and great price? I´ve seen these brands: eastman, aero, gibson & barnes, flightjacket, etc....

Sorry about all questions, but I don´t know where I could start...

Thx!!

You sound impatient. Best get something already made and/or used. There's lots out there to choose from. But when you rush you risk making a mistake. Most of us here have. More than once.

Thx all of you for your help.

Eastman are a bit expensive, but I think maybe they are the most well made that I´ve seen.

Here at spain I don´t have to much options to buy this type of jackets. I only know one shop in Madrid called forpilotsmadrid.... and also we dont have used market here.

Loved b6 too but the best option is to give a try to a simialr jacket here and then order it, but I dont have any option. A-2 I know they are going to be perfect on me, but need something warmer.

See you!

I´ve seen this A-2 and love it !!! Aero 38-1711-P Type A-2 I asked some questions to the information mail of aero´s site.

Any similar jacket of a-2 but a bit warmer? I´ve seen the aero fits very good, but with it, it´s going to be difficult to put some more clothes like a polar fleece.

Here the aero...

Hello, I also live in Madrid and have a Schott B3 and B6, they should be your size. I could sell the B6 if you are interested.
Hasta luego.

You won't get any more warmth from an A-2. Keep searching the web.
Aero contact with me and told me: "if historical accuracy isn’t important to you, we could construct this out of heavier leather, with a warmer lining. Or, we do make other styles which have similarities to A-2s but made as standard out of heavier leather"

I have to ask her if they use a heavier leather if its going to have a very different appearance.... But its a good idea. The problem is that they have a waiting list of 5-6 months!!! Thats too much for me.

Any other good company that ship/dispatch on few weeks?
