Clyde Barrow's Stetson 100 on ebay

In case anyone is interested, a near mint Stetson 100 is up for auction on ebay. Clyde Barrow used to own it. It will be too rich for my blood after paying 127 bucks for a vintage Cavanagh this week. :cry: If I had that Stetson 100, I would have to wear it.LOL Fedora

My brother wears a Stetson 100 from the 30's just like that every few days. It belonged to his grandfather, and they wear the same size.

I'm going to expose my ignorance to the whole world by asking "Who is Clyde Barrow?". The name sounds familar but nothing is clicking.....Please help .

Writer, humourist, politician....the name is really familiar.

I emailed the owner and told him that i have had several "celebrity" hats from Shudde Bros ( Gene Autry for one) and in most cases they imprint the entire name on the leather. I noticed that his is not on it so asked him the provenance. His answer was " I am selling it for the thrird owner. Clyde gave it to his father, his father gave it to the man I am selling it for"
Hmmm, sceptic that i am I can't see bidding on it from just that word. I wish I had a buck for every little old lady coming into our store with "20s" dresses only to find they are polyester and the women still swearing they are from the 20s. They leave with them obviously. Still, the hat is worth a bid on it's own value.

I bet that hat has a reserve of $300 plus...the "owner" has it in his head that is was Clyde's.

No way to prove it.

I had a bid on a hat owned by J. Edgar Hoover (had sales receipt and "JEH" on sweatband).

The ebay price was low, and I bid high. Too bad the jerk seller "cancelled" the auction...and sold to a "private" person.

Ebay took no action....seems they don't care as long as they get their cut of the sales price, abiet that that was unfair..I would have bid higher and met the price!

If the reserve had been 300 I might own it now, I was bidding too. I emailed the seller and it was $5000, yes that's three zeros. That guy is out of his mind, he's flipped his lid, the cheese slid off his cracker.
