PS, the theory is that certain colors look best with certain skin tones and hair and eye colors. (They can be worn during any time of the year.) See pages 7 and 8 of this thread. There is one post that shows women of various seasons. There is also a post with some good color swatches for summers (like you, I think) and some photos of FLer Mary in various colored clothes, which shows how some colors look better on her than others.

I've always been interested in the color seasons. I didn't really know much about it. I think I'm possibly a winter? I have darker hair, fair skin, blue eyes, and I think I look better in blue-reds, black, and darker colors. The only thing that throws me off is when I started coloring my hair, my hair will really pick up red tones and the hair stylist told me I had warm toned hair, or looked better in warmer hair, which I disagree with.

Spring (me) is a warm season, I have golden freckles, and was a strawberry londe as a baby and little kid. You as a toe head with no freckles and pink cheeks are a Summer, a cool season. You can wear burgundy and rose pink well. You need blue-reds, I wear orange-reds. I wear coral and peachy pink. Baby blue, pastel light blue looks great on you, on me I need a periwinkle or bright crayon blue.

You as a Summer can frost your hair, or go ash blonde, Me- I need a golden blonde or golden brown shade, no ash.

Here's me with an orange-red tablecloth behind me as backdrop. I have golden blonde/brown hair, golden brown eyes and light golden freckles. My lipstick is a true orange-red.

You can wear any of your colors year round, just in appropriate fabrics and fabric weights and styles for the weather. A light blue raincoat for you would be super!

Yes I was a tow head and I have very blue eyes, nope no freckles.I looked up seasons onlines, I had never really heard about this stuff before. It looked like like I am a Light Spring/Light Summer...they are sister colors? This all sounds kind of goofy. But that being said, if I am a light summer or whatever, how do I wear a light blue dress in the fall/winter?
I just don't get it.

Christy, throw out here a pic of you in color, a head shot if possible with your hair its natural color.

If you are a Winter you can wear blue reds, chinese red, black and pure white. If you are a warm season, you would look better in mustard, terracotta and khaki green and an oyster white- Autumn. Also your skin wouldn't be so fair, if a snow white complexion your'e a Winter. btw, Fleure de Guerre is a Winter.

Carey the pictures and descriptions made this easier to understand. Thank you!
With all my acquired knowledge I am thinking maybe I will order the dress in a cool gray, like a dove gray if she has it. Thanks everyone for the help. I need to finish reading the thread!

I don't have a picture of my natural hair color on my computer. Here are some pictures of me with the lighter warm color, and the color it is now. My natural hair was in between these two. It was an ash brown or a mouse brown, kind of flat and boring. It wasn't warm like my lighter color, but it wasn't as dark as the color I have now. Also, my eyes are a muted blue, they're not bright, a darker blue. I guess they could be described as a slate or a gray blue.
Here's the warmer color:

My new, darker color, please ignore the eyebrows, they're a work in progress:

Good rule of thumb (and a lot from color theory class ;) ), you can wear just about any chromatic color, with any neutral.

Neurtals- any color mixed with white, or black (brown is a neurtal)

Does that mean it's safe to wear a medium/dark brown hat with a white button-shirt and a black sweater vest?

I'd love it if anyone could help me on the 'season' thing, here's a picture of me (excuse the rather low-cut top!)

I think I'm a winter, and I've recently dyed my hair black (it's also a lot longer than in that picture) and got lots of complements on how well it suits me, but I'm not sure.

Look like either a winter or a dark haired summer -like Caroline Kennedy (Jackie O's daughter), probably a Winter with seeing your avatar pic. Often the wrong shade of tinted hair color can easily throw one off.

Okay.. I have to do this too... The whole Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter thing has eluded me for years. Probably because I never stick to a hair color. I've been told I was a true neutral, whatever that is supposed to mean. My hair has ashy blonde undertones, but in the sun, It's coppery... as per usual, the right light is everything. Skin wise, I'm putting my foot down and saying I'm more cool than warm, though you wouldn't know it from the paper on the inside of your wrist trick.

I just think my body doesn't know what it wants to do. I have weird genetics. I blame my birth mother! lol

Natural hair color, and the most natural makeup picture I could find. Unfortunately, it's florescent lighting. Yuck. The picture in my avatar is partial natural, partial florescent, with minimal makeup. Basically just black eyeliner, 301 false lashes (I was in a mod mood) and some prada lipbalm. Kinda grainy, but the sweater I'm wearing is a dark green.

Woo, that was fast.. and unexpected!

Thanks, Paisley. :)

eta: Now only to figure out... Cool Summer, Light Summer, Soft Summer.... ha!

Actually, according to this goofy little chart I found, all my favorite clothes colors that make feel awesome when I wear them are in the soft summer category...hmm. Problem solved!

O.k. I took a picture of a picture when I had my natural hair color. High school graduation, so that was 5 years ago. I'm not sure why I look kind of tan, I was always given a hard time in high school for having such fair skin.

So after seeing the above pictures and this picture with my natural hair color, what season am I?

Based on this pic, with fair skin too even if you can tan- you're a Winter. Blue-red, black, white, icy pastels, chinese blue, royal purple. Like Liz Taylor in the late forties and fifties think Father of the Bride, Audrey Hepburn in the fifties too - think Sabrina.

My mom has always said all this season stuff was hooey, but I'm finding the discussion on it quite interesting. Can someone tell me what season I am?

This is my natural hair color (it actually shows up a little dark here, but natural nonetheless.) Right now I have it dyed to a more honey-tone.

Okay... Off the cuff I'd say you may well be a warm season- possibly an Autumn, maybe a bright Spring. Your skin tone looks golden to me. Your eyes look aqua or turquoise even.

Let's ask some preliminary questions. Hair color as a kid? Do you tan? No pinky cheek color naturally (don't see that here in this photo)? Are your lips naturally a peachy pink shade as they appear in this pic?

Does burgundy make you look washed out, but a tomatoe red looks good on you? How about bright yellow, kelly green, or a army green? This little top you have on here looks like an orange-red color to me.

CC might be right, but I can't tell from the photo. The lighting is inadequate.

What colors get you a lot of compliments when you wear them?
