Short of getting a water softener, add a quarter-cup of sal soda to the wash water at the same time you add the soap -- that will make a *big* difference.

I will try that! We do have somewhat hard water here. Where does one find sal soda?

It is also called washing soda or sodium carbonate. Some stores will still have it in the detergent section. I know Arm&Hammer still offers it. I've also heard you can make your own by heating sodium bi-carb in the oven, but I've never done this.

I find it in the grocery store right next to the Borax and the Fels Naptha. One-stop shopping!

Oh, washing soda! I've bought that & Borax before when I made my own laundry detergent. Will try that!
