Classic Movie Channels

Here in California (and other states and countries, though I don't know which) we have the privilege of having a channel that only airs classic movies. That channel is Turner Classic Movies or TCM for short. My question is for those outside of California and the United States in general, what stations air classic movies on a regular basis, on a particular day of the week or time of day? I won't count during holidays because many stations regularly air classic holiday movies during the seasons they are set in.

Well I'm in California now. But even when I lived back in Philly, we had those 2 stations that you mentioned. I've never known any others that show classics on a regular basis. I'm sure there must be others though in different parts of the country.

We're on the Dish Network.
The three best movie channels are,
TCM as stated, Turner classic movies
AMC (american movie classics) its a commercial channel now though.
IFC (independent film channel) no commercials and really good low budget small films.
Best thing we ever did was get the dish. Our cable in our area was lousy
with horrible service.....

From reading the TCM website it seems that they air in Japan and also the UK. I think that they have other non-U.S. service but I can't remember off the top of my head which countries. In Japan there is an old movie studio called Toei that has a cable station that shows only it's own films. They specialize in Chambara (samurai) and action films (Shinichi "Sonny"Chiba was one of their big names). I wish that I could see that channel here!

The Fox Movie Channel includes many old movies among its commercial-free offerings.

Sundance Channel is also commercial-free.

I don't have cable, but at my parents' house late at night, I used to watch old movies on the Oxygen Network (marketed for women). I think sometimes they add pop-ups with obscure facts like on VH1's PopUp Video show.

TCM and AMC are nation-wide cable channels. TCM's not operated by Time Warner AND Warner Bros. It's operated by and owned, lock, stock & barrel, by Time Warner. Warner Brothers is another of their subsidiaries. Warner Brothers, Time Magazine, AOL, and so forth are no longer autonomous entities - they're owned, operated and controlled by the conglomerate. Even before Ted Turner sold TCM, it was NEVER a joint venture between himself and Warner Brothers.

I'm in the UK and have Sky (satellite service like cable) and we get TCM as well as Sky Classics. Film4 show a few classic movies too, mostly british ones. I spend half my life sky plussing (like tivo) movies on all three!

We used to get the GoodLifeTv channel, which showed classic tv detective shows like 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, and Surfside 6. But TimeWarner dropped it from its cable lineup, and I see they've now changed to AmericanLifeTV, showing mostly 70s and 80s tv shows. And we still don't get it on Comcast cable, soooooo..........never mind.
