I believe the term anti hero was actually invented to describe the great John Garfield. If it wasn't it should have been. Check him out in "The Postman Always Rings Twice". Whew.

My fav is W.C Fields in every role he played, probably in real life also if the biography's are to be believed.
The fatal glass of beer and the bank dick are my favorites , but his entire body of work has a place here.
