Clark Gable's A2

I wonder if there are any pictures of him wearing the jacket? That would add to the value I would think. As it is, it looks like any jacket with Gables name stuck on it. Plus, I don't think the name tape follows the usual form for such things, though I know it varied. I think most were first initial, middle initial, and last name, as in "R. S. Smith." But Jimmy Stewart's jacket is marked simply "Stewart." So it is possible that Gable's Jacket was marked "Clark Gable," especially if it was an outside-of-service "procurement."

I wonder who the manufacturer is? And size?

I thought it was odd that the name label had his first and last name also.
I've never seen a name label from WWII that had both names.
Nice jacket though.

There is not any provenance for the jacket in the listing.
The seller has a letter from a cousin to be updated in the auction.

It does look vintage, but I'm skeptical as to it's authenticity. I think I’d stay away from this auction, plus the seller doesn’t have the best feedback rating.

This A2, which is an issued Spiewak or Doniger, was not worn by Gable in the War. His A2, as well as all of his uniforms were actually custom made by MGM studios in the U.K. and are still in the possession of his family. The patch is post war!

Apparently there were several USAAF officers called Clark Gable!

I believe it is a Doniger which is a pretty rare jacket manufactorer. BTW I have a V. Hilts Steve McQueen sweatshirt I can auction too.
