Except for the spanking by the vice-principal when I was in
junior school,
I had a blast being a kid.

Grew up with my grandma which I adored.

Except for art class, my grades in school were not so good but never got punished or pressured by anyone.

Everyone was too busy and didn't have
much time for me... but that's ok!

I learned early in life if I wanted things to happen it was up to me and no one else.

I had great fun with my pals and nobody picked on me.
I had 2jakes (pit-bull) to watch over me.

Makes me sad when I read about how tuff a time some of you had as kids.

Unless I look in the mirror, in my heart,
I never grew up.
I'm still a kid who likes to
fly a kite, ride my Schwinn or shoot my BB gun at marauding tin cans. :)

Growing up in Florida, I never had to shovel snow or rake leaves (as we say down South, you don't have to shovel sunshine). My dad would never let me cut the grass, for fear I'd scalp his precious patch of St. Augustine. We had concrete floors, so no vacuuming was required. So we had to wash dishes. I hated washing dishes. My sisters and I always whined about why we couldn't get a dishwasher, and my mother would say "I've got three of them...now back to work." Looking back, it wasn't that onerous, but it was torture to a 10-year old to spend the last hour before bedtime scrubbing the dishes.

And not really a "chore" because it wasn't all the time, but I hated picking strawberries. My grandmother used to make and tell me it built character. But a pox on anyone who makes you pick strawberries.

Washing dishes is the one chore I actually enjoy. :)

Oh come on, where's the fun in that? :D

"Your password must be exactly 57 characters long for no reason whatsoever. It must contain no fewer than five capitalized letters (but no more than seven), at least eight numbers, six special characters, and an umlaut." o_O

I'm already on my third password on some websites simply because they got hacked and had to "strengthen" their security protocols.

A friend of mine who is so enamored of "technology" and heavily obsessed with security (both online and otherwise) was so proud of having a password with 63 characters! :rolleyes:o_O

"My password is 'IAmTheVeryModelOfAModernMajor-GeneralI'veInformationVegetableAnimalAndMineral'."

I imagine there would be bragging rights associated with that in some circles, but how would you like to have to type all of that every time you logged onto a website?

Cleaning my desk.

When I was in school, the teacher would come around twice a year and tip my desk over and dump out all the accumulated junk, but I have no teacher now, and things accumulate. There is junk in my desk at home that was there when it was my grandfather's desk, and he died forty years ago. And as for my desk at the theatre, it's stacked high with stuff that has no purpose to anyone but me, and I know where it all is, so god help anybody that moves it.

Now and then, I'll go over my desk.
I find many things I thought I lost.
One drawer has my favorite Golden Age
comics as originally printed with no
modern ads except that on bottom in
states reproduction. Favorite "rococo" style
of drawings; Wonder Woman by Peters.
I'll leave Marston for another time.

Rigging up the awning in the patio every summer, as my years of bouncing my way between ladder, awning and garden table like a teenage siamang ore obviously over.

Once all is set up and I sleep in my deck chair with an ice cold Köstritzer Dark in my cooling bag world is in order again…:D

How’s the summer weather over your way?

Here, in this semi-arid, high-altitude zone, where it’s sunny most every day and gets RFH during the summer, an uncovered deck/patio/etc. on the south or west side of a structure is pretty much unusable. It’s not just the heat. UV radiation is something like 20 to 30 percent higher than what it is a sea level.

Upside? Very little humidity, very few biting insects. A 100 degree day is almost tolerable if you can get some shade.

I live in a temperate climate zone here, at about 300m above sea level.
How the summer develops depends highly on if and in case where the warmer weather flows in from.
The heat wave we’re currently scheduled for this weekend rolls in from South West, Atlantic, West Africa, Spain…what means temperatures up to 100F and high humidity.
In case the heat comes in from east it’s way better sufferable cause of the very low humidity of that continental weather pattern.
What really changed is the duration of such periods due to an increasingly slowing jet stream in summer months.
Highs and lows often don’t really move for weeks, even months so drought or rain periods grow longer and more intense.
Not having any larger open water or forest around we rarely see a Mosquito here, think I’ve seen one so far this year.
My back yard / patio heads directly westwards so sun from noon til late evening in summer.

Our covered deck is on the west side of the house. In the warmer months it’s among the most used “rooms” here.

A couple years ago I put in a faux-cobblestone (they’re actually somewhat irregular and textured concrete pavers) patio on the south side of the attached garage where there had been a couple-three hundred square feet of dead space. If not for my collection of garden umbrellas (which might as fittingly be called parasols) the patio would be all but unusable in the summer.

Taking the dogs out for their walk which I have to do at 7:30–8:00 PM so that they don’t poop and pee in the house during the night. This is the time when I’ve pretty much run out of steam and should be relaxing.

I have a love/hate relationship with mowing. I enjoy it for the satisfaction of getting it down. However I'm very allergic to cut grass. I've ended up in the hospital several times from it. I mow my 5 acres weekly from early spring to late fall...
Only one trip to the hospital this year so I must be getting used to it.
