Choose my Next Jacket: Brown Mulholland vs. Olive Journeyman

...or at least help me choose. I have sold a few more items recently and am very likely going to be grabbing one of these two jackets as both are available in my size, but this is the most torn I have been in a while. Money allowing, I'd have both, but that is not an option.

I already have a Mulholland as many know and that is both good and bad. The downside is of course that it means I would be buying the same jacket in a different color, but the plus side is that this jacket fits me perfectly and IMO looks great on me.

The journeyman would be my only non-zip leather jacket now that my Himel Cossack jacket has been sold. It would also be my first 3/4 length/car coat jacket. I love the design of this jacket, but I also know the Mulholland fits me very well. I also prefer the leather on this one. I think the olive/seal brown color looks incredible and unique.

Here is me in a jacket with almost identical measurements to the Journeyman- the only differences are that the journeyman is an inch shorter and slightly smaller in the chest.

Like I said, this is the most torn I have been in quite some time. I would not bother you all if I didn't need the help

Maybe just the photo but the journeyman fans out and looks like a fusty frock coat. I imagine it would take ages to break in and look less awkward.

That's my main concern with it. I feel like it's a jacket that looks better in pictures than actually on people. Still, I love the way it looks and adore the leather.

Nothing wrong with owning the same jacket in different colors. I have two Himel Kensingtons and two Himel Frobishers, and I might end up with two Imperials. Therefore, my vote is for the Mulholland even though I don’t love the design and I prefer the Journeyman. The Mulholland fits you really well. I’m not confident the Journeyman will work for you and your body dimensions. I think that cut is better for a taller, leaner frame.

Yeah, I think my main concern was with having two of the same jacket, but the jacket fits me so well that it doesn't matter. I agree that with my body type, even being slimmer than I used to be, a longer, more flowing jacket may not work best for me.

I've been looking a lot at vintage car coats lately and though I feel they look the best in plainer brown or black (I'd take my journeyman in that brown) I have to admit that olive looks incredible and probably better and more alive IRL. I feel pretty confident that it will put a bigger smile on your face allowing that it will fit and for sure it will diversify your wardrobe even more.

If pressed I would have to say the Journeyman.

Great points for both. The vintage brown will not be very close to my RMC A2, which is a ridiculously dark brown that almost looks black. I would say the vintage brown looks like a true brown, which would be really nice to have.

For the journeyman, the fit is the issue. Even if the measurements are perfect, it could simply not be right for me and I think it probably isn't. I know the Mulholland is perfect for me.

Here are my Pro's for your decision (there are no Con's):
Pro Mulholland:
- The jacket fits you perfectly even if others (or one specific person who probably cannot afford this jacket) say(s) that FW jackets don't fit you.
- Why not having the same most beautiful and best fitting jacket in two colors?!
- The shoulder width of the Journeyman is much narrower might be a potential jacket fitting risk. As the green FW jacket pictured fits you (measurements are similar) well the risk is low that it doesn't fit you
Pro Journeyman:
- You don't have a (FW / leather) jacket in this style and if you need a coat for fall and winter, then it's the right jacket for you
- The olive/seal color is unique and if I wouldn't have the LW olive Bedford I would definitely buy this one (I like this one more than my olive LW coat)

You can see that I don't have con's as I like both and I'm sure that both would look good on you. If I was you I would buy the Mulholland now (for Summer/Fall), save up money till Winter and then buy the Journeyman as both are no option for you now. Therefore I vote both the Mulholland.

Thank you for such a comprehensive analysis. The storm cuffs of the journeyman are actually probably more of a con than a pro. I have a lot of days I can wear leather jackets, but most of them are on the fringe so the warmth of storm cuffs would usually not be great.

That's not a bad idea. Given that this color of the Mulholland is not released often means I would be better to snap it up now and maybe try to get the Journeyman eventually.

Get the Mulholland. As you seem to have a fairly compact torso, it will suit you better. I have the opposite problem- long torso and short legs!

well single breasted button front jacket like that especially if you pick other color like olive as you mentioned would open more possibility in your wardrobe, I like buttoned jacket as you can wear it in different buttons configuration and make the jacket look and fit differently by doing it.

I know you like your black version of the other jacket, but if you also get a brown one, seeing your choice of leather color normally go to the brown, then there is chance your black one get less wear because of it.

For whatever reason the IMGR images are saying the links no longer exist so can’t comment specifically on the colourway, but I’d fret the journeyman is a bit long for your body type DWTH. Meanwhile we know the Mulholland looks great. Might as well double down on a winner...!

That's my main concern with it. I feel like it's a jacket that looks better in pictures than actually on people. Still, I love the way it looks and adore the leather.

It doesn’t flare once it’s worn in, which happens quickly.
