I missed the auction on these , but contacted the seller and bought them anyway. They just came today. Boy are these cool boots! About a 1/2 size too big, but a pair of Dr, Scholl's insoles fixed that right up. SUPER thick soles and leather heals. SUPER fine leather shoe laces and tiny eyelets that only show on the inside. They were made by RICHMOND HARNESS AND SADDLERY ENGLAND anybody have any info on that Co.? I googled but didn't come up with anything. I'll take more detailed pics if I ever decide to take them off.....lol

Just found out from the seller that these date from the late 60's. No wonder they are so well made.

Paddock boots, eh?

Beauts! Great find.

They sure don't make 'em as simple and elegant as that today. They're very much sporting goods now. About the only similarity is that they're shortish and brownish.

The equestrian community in general has retreated from classic style and created new "traditions" which are informally and sometimes formally enforced in competition and judging. Brown high boots, for example, have been a no-no for 25 years now, but are slowly and fitfully coming back.
