Charles Schulz and WW2

I hope you'll indulge me a bit as I am very, very excited to share this news.

Not many people know this, but Peanuts and Snoopy creator, Charles Schulz, served in World War II. I wrote a feature article on him and it is the cover story for AMERICA IN WWII magazine for the month of December. I just got my copy in the mail today (I am a subscriber), but it won't hit newstands for another week or two.

But as I am a huge Snoopy collector and a WW2 historian, it was an absolute honor to write this.

I met the man through my mother, who ice skated with his daughter. His table at the ice rink is still reserved. If anyone is ever up this far north, I highly suggest visiting the Charles Schulz Museum.

Awesome! I grew up in Sonoma County and when I was younger we used top go ice skating at Schulz ice arena in Santa Rosa, CA . He had an office upstairs where he would work on his comics and he would walk around the arena talking to people, and if you were lucky, he would draw a sketch for you

One of the 1st books I saved up my pennies for and bought myself as a child was "The Peanuts Jubilee," first published in 1975.

There are a few images from "Sparky's" wartime sketchbook in it.
