Changes in eBay feedback procedures...

The problem is that people are afraid of negative feedback. As an honest buyer, if you have a bad transaction with a seller, and the seller does not fix that bad transaction, you should not be afraid to leave negative feedback. I undertsand the fear of negative feedback relaliation, and that's the real problem with ebay's feedback system.
A negative, in a perfect ebay world, should be a way to warn other buyers that the seller is not very good to deal with. And it should also be a way for sellers to spot buyers who have bad histories as well.
But instead people are afraid to tell the truth in a negative for fear of getting negged back. And some people use the feedback system as blackmail. There's fear on both sides.
Taking negatives away from buyers isn't going to give them better transactions. I think the threat of negatives is used more against sellers than buyers. It's going to make sellers more nervous because they can still be negged no matter how quickly they ship an item, or how accurately their item was described etc. This will open up more opportunities for abuse.

Ebay Winds of CHANGE

Isn't that the latest buzz word "CHANGE"??? Well Ebay is getting a new CEO & I'll bet some of this feedback stuff has to do with that.

Buying MUCH LESS @ Ebay in 2008, tired of the bidding/snipping game. If I need something I favor buy it now/best offer deals. For me its stay away from Ebay [huh]

i agree, i dont buy nearly as much as i use to. but, since i started on ebay, 90% of my purchases (and all i do is purchase) is buy-it-now. if it is something i really, really, want, i put in a bid several days before it ends, & then i wait to get an email seeing if i won it or not. if i didn't win it, it just means i have to wait a while longer to get it because there is ALWAYS another one that will come along...

This is an absolute fraking disaster for small sellers like me. Add this feedback bull**** to the fact that they are messing around with the listing fees and the final value fees, and it adds up to a large problem. The feedback system needs to be fixed, but not like this. I have been selling on there for 9 years, and it just gets more complicated and ridiculous every year. They are going to kill me with all this trouble! I have a decent rating right now, but I get some stupid newbie buyer in a bad mood and that is all blown to hell! And I can't answer back for it either!

I am not leaving feedback anymore for anyone after this kicks in. It's obviously worthless! What eBay doesn't seem to get through its bloated, greedy brain is that you can't lure buyers to eBay if you don't have any sellers. Sellers have threatened to leave before, but I think this is going to be the last straw. It may weed out some of the bad sellers, but it also screws with bottom feeders like me. I am honest, I sell good things, I only charge actual shipping and NO stupid "handling" fee, but since I don't make a zillion dollars a day as a PowerSeller, I don't matter.

This is awful. They are lowering insertion fees BUT upping final value fees. I think I MIGHT just break even in that area.

eBay doesn't care about anyone but itself. Like this is news, right?

This is truly terrible.

It's bloody well ridiculous. As a seller I can't issue negative feedback when someone doesn't pay? Yet that same buyer can issue negative feedback to me as the seller? Well doesn't that just frost my cookies. It seems like eBay is biting the hand that feeds it - and that is the hand of the sellers. :rage:

i am really confused. i don't sell that much on ebay, it's been a few years.

why can't sellers leave negative feedback for buyers? what if the buyer doesn't pay or is horrible to deal with, etc.
if someone doesn't pay me, why would i leave positive feedback???

can someone please explain this to me.?

Sellers can leave "non payment" feedback, which I suppose eBay thinks is all that matters.

That's what they want... more BIN buyers. eBay is morphing from an auction house to a flea market.

Why more buy it now items? Auctions allow for auction fever to kick in driving up the price. It's part of the fun as a seller and also increases the final value fees for ebay and paypal. I have not done this, but you can set up an ebay store with your items all at a buy it now price.
